Modelling and thermal optimization of traditional housing in a hot arid area
Murad Khan,Hayder Mirza Majeed +1 more
- 14 Oct 2015
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the use of night ventilation as a passive cooling strategy for a traditional courtyard house in a hot dry climate, using weather data for Baghdad, and found that building elements can change the performance to various degrees, that the airflow patterns inside the rooms change from day to night and that the thermal conditions during the day depend more on the intensity of solar radiation than other factors.

- 01 Nov 2004
TL;DR: In this article, a comparison between three types of buildings was made in order to have a preliminary impression on how building and courtyard characteristics affect the interior climatic conditions, and the results showed that the outdoor temperature in this neighbourhood is in general higher than in the station; nevertheless, each location has its own hygro-thermal behaviour.
