Carabid beetles in commercial raspberry fields in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia and a sampling protocol for Pterostichus melanarius (Coleoptera: Carabidae)
TL;DR: Carabid beetles were sampled in 15 raspberry fields in the Fraser Valley of BC from April to September, 1994 as discussed by the authors. At least 28 species were caught, but one, Pterostichus melanarius (Illiger), dominated with 80% of all individuals.
Species Richness and Community Composition of Ants and Beetles in Bt and non-Bt Maize Fields.
TL;DR: It is suggested that Bt maize does not affect ant and ground beetle populations differently from its isoline, and no statistically significant difference was found in the species richness of ant andGround beetle communities when comparing sites of Bt with those of non-Bt maize.

Changes in the phenology of the ground beetle Pterostichus madidus (Fabricius, 1775)
Gabor Pozsgai,Nick A. Littlewood +1 more
TL;DR: Results demonstrate that between 1992 and 2008, phenology of P. madidus at seven sites from the eight analyzed has changed, supporting the theory that the cessation of the activity period is more likely to be controlled by photoperiod than temperature.

Oil Pipeline Corridor Through an Intact Forest Alters Ground Beetle (Coleoptera: Carabidae) Assemblages in Southeastern Ohio
TL;DR: Overall, results indicate that construction of the oil pipeline corridor had significant short-term effects on the carabid numbers, diversity, and species composition because of ensuing habitat changes and fragmentation of the forest.

When to sample in an inaccessible landscape: A case study with carabids from the Allgäu (northern Alps) (Coleoptera, Carabidae)
TL;DR: The results show that an early activity peak among carabids is predominant in mountain ecosystems, and recommend two fortnightly sampling periods as a minimum for a sampling programme: one immediately after snow melt, and a second sampling period after a pause of two weeks.
