Abstract: We propose an approach for building facade interpretation ranging from uncalibrated wide-baseline image sequences to the extraction of windows. The approach comprises several novel features, such as determination of the facade planes by robust least squares matching, learning of implicit shape models for objects, particularly windows, and the determination of the latter by means of Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) employing an abstraction hierarchy generated via mathematical morphology. Results for the fully automatic approach show its potential and shortcomings.

3D urban cartography incorporating recognition and temporal integration
Ahmad Kamal Aijazi
- 15 Dec 2014
TL;DR: This thesis presents a scalable framework for automatic 3D urban cartography which incorporates recognition and temporal integration and shows that the proposed method of temporal integration also helps in improved semantic analysis of the urban environment, specially building facades.

Distinctive Image Features from Scale-Invariant Keypoints
TL;DR: This paper presents a method for extracting distinctive invariant features from images that can be used to perform reliable matching between different views of an object or scene and can robustly identify objects among clutter and occlusion while achieving near real-time performance.
Random sample consensus: a paradigm for model fitting with applications to image analysis and automated cartography
TL;DR: New results are derived on the minimum number of landmarks needed to obtain a solution, and algorithms are presented for computing these minimum-landmark solutions in closed form that provide the basis for an automatic system that can solve the Location Determination Problem under difficult viewing.
