Abstract: Collection of blood from small laboratory animals is necessary for a wide range of scientific research and there are a number of efficient methods available for that. It is important that blood sample collection from experimental animals should be least stressful because stress will affect the outcome of the study. Various regulatory agencies and guidelines have restricted the use of animals and the techniques used for blood collection in laboratory animals. This article deals with the approved blood collection techniques for laboratory animals like rodents, lagomorphs and nonrodents. Permission of the Institute Animal Ethics Committee has been obtained for the use of animals for demonstrating the techniques.

Study the topical effect of six days use of different lycopene doses on imiquimod-induce psoriasis-like skin inflammation in Mice
TL;DR: Investigation of the potential impact of two different doses of topical Lycopene and as add on therapy to Clobetasol on Psoriasis model that induced by Imiquimod in mice found it to be beneficial.
Fortification of alcoholic beverages (12% v/v) with tea (Camellia sinensis) reduces harmful effects of alcohol ingestion and metabolism in mouse model
Simon O Ochanda,K. Rashid,John K. Wanyoko,M Ngotho,A K Faraj,C A Onyango,Francis N. Wachira,D N Maranga +7 more
TL;DR: The findings demonstrate tea's hepatoprotective mechanisms against alcohol-induced injury through promotion of endogenous antioxidants, and the beneficial effects of tea in the fortified alcoholic beverages could be used to develop safer alcoholic beverages.

Hormonal stress response of laboratory mice to conventional and minimally invasive bleeding techniques
Christian C. Voigt,P. Klöckner,Chadi Touma,C. Neuschl,G. Brockmann,F. Göritz,Rupert Palme,Ruth Thomsen +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that blood-sucking bugs may offer a gentle alternative for obtaining blood samples from small animals such as mice because laboratory animals are not handled and because the mechanical stimulus of an insect sting is supposedly weak.

Plant-inspired Pluronic-gallol micelles with low critical micelle concentration, high colloidal stability, and protein affinity.
TL;DR: It is reported that Pluronic® micelles with octyl gallate, which is a surfactant containing gallol moieties widely found in antioxidative plant polyphenols, have a low CMC, which improves their colloidal stability without the need for covalent crosslinking.

FACT maintains nucleosomes during transcription and stem cell viability in adult mice
Imon Kalyan Goswami,Poorva Sandlesh,Aimee Stablewski,Ilya Toshkov,Alfiya Safina,Mikhail D. Magnitov,Jianmin Wang,Katerina Gurova +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that FACT loss reduces the viability of stem cells but not of cells differentiated in vitro, and chromatin integrity during transcription in mammalian adult stem cells is maintained, suggesting that chromatin transcription in stem cells and differentiated cells is different.

Methods of Blood Collection in the Mouse
Janet Hoff
- 01 Jan 2000
TL;DR: Blood collection is used for a wide variety of scientific studies, and there are a number of efficient methods available, but it is important to remember that blood collection, because it can stress the animals, may have an impact on the outcome of research data.
Saphenous vein puncture for blood sampling of the mouse, rat, hamster, gerbil, guineapig, ferret and mink
TL;DR: A humane and practical alternative to cardiac and retro-orbital puncture, in species where venepuncture has traditionally been regarded as problematic, is described for blood collection from the lateral saphenous vein.

Chronic vascular catheterization in the rat: comparison of three techniques.
TL;DR: It is concluded that for long-term sampling of blood in the rat, the femoral artery catheterization procedure is preferable in terms of patency and postsurgical weight loss.
