Abstract: Des de l’època tardoarcaica fins al final de l’època clàssica Atenes fou un pol d’atracció per a persones provinents de les regions més diverses del món conegut. Aquesta monografia estudia el grau d’integració d’aquests estrangers a la vida de la polis atenesa prenent com a font d’informació primordial els epitafis funeraris. Presenta un corpus de 519 inscripcions funeràries ateneses dedicades a estrangers i datades entre els segles VI i IV aC, i les analitza des del punt de vista lingüístic i formal i també políticoinstitucional.
