Biochemical Outcome After Radical Prostatectomy, External Beam Radiation Therapy, or Interstitial Radiation Therapy for Clinically Localized Prostate Cancer
Anthony V. D'Amico,R. Whittington,S.B. Malkowicz,Daniel Schultz,Kenneth R. Blank,Gregory A. Broderick,John E. Tomaszewski,Andrew A. Renshaw,Irving D. Kaplan,Clair J. Beard,Alan J. Wein +10 more
TL;DR: Low-risk patients had estimates of 5-year PSA outcome after treatment with RP, RT, or implant with or without neoadjuvant androgen deprivation that were not statistically different, whereas intermediate- and high- risk patients treated with RP or RT did better then those treated by implant.

Association of genetic variations of selenoprotein genes, plasma selenium levels, and prostate cancer aggressiveness at diagnosis.
Wanling Xie,Ming Yang,June M. Chan,Tong Sun,Lorelei A. Mucci,Kathryn L. Penney,Gwo-Shu Mary Lee,Philip W. Kantoff +7 more
TL;DR: The impact of genetic variants of selenoproteins on plasma selenium levels and cancer aggressiveness at diagnosis in men with localized prostate cancer (PCa) is investigated.

Work ability in prostate cancer survivors after radical prostatectomy
TL;DR: Increasing age, UL, co-morbidity and time since RP are associated with decreasing post-RP WA, warranting consideration of patients’ work plans when considering post- RP oncological treatment.

Sampling of the anterior apical region results in increased cancer detection and upgrading in transrectal repeat saturation biopsy of the prostate.
Maximilian Seles,T. Gutschi,Katrin Mayrhofer,Katja Fischereder,Georg C. Ehrlich,Guenter Gallé,S. Gutschi,Oliver Pachernegg,Karl Pummer,H. Augustin +9 more
TL;DR: Whether biopsy cores taken via a transrectal approach from the anterior apical region of the prostate in a repeat‐biopsy population can result in an increased overall cancer detection rate and in more accurate assessment of the Gleason score is evaluated.

Tissue biomarkers for prostate cancer radiation therapy.
Phuoc T. Tran,Russell K. Hales,Jing Zeng,Khaled Aziz,T. Salih,Rajendra P. Gajula,Sivarajan T. Chettiar,Nishant Gandhi,Aaron T. Wild,Rachit Kumar,Joseph M. Herman,Danny Y. Song,Theodore L. DeWeese +12 more
TL;DR: This work reviews the current state of prognostic and predictive tissue-based molecular biomarkers which can be used to direct localized prostate cancer treatment decisions, specifically those implicated with definitive and salvage radiation therapy.
The ProCaSP study: quality of life outcomes of prostate cancer patients after radiotherapy or radical prostatectomy in a cohort study
Nora Eisemann,Sandra Nolte,Sandra Nolte,Maike Schnoor,Alexander Katalinic,Volker Rohde,Annika Waldmann +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe and compare health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of prostate cancer patients who received either radical prostatectomy (nerve-sparing, nsRP, or non-nerve sparing, nnsRP) or radiotherapy (external RT, brachytherapy, or both combined) for treatment of localised prostate cancer.

Nonparametric Estimation from Incomplete Observations
Edward L. Kaplan,Paul Meier +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the product-limit (PL) estimator was proposed to estimate the proportion of items in the population whose lifetimes would exceed t (in the absence of such losses), without making any assumption about the form of the function P(t).
Regression Models and Life-Tables
TL;DR: The analysis of censored failure times is considered in this paper, where the hazard function is taken to be a function of the explanatory variables and unknown regression coefficients multiplied by an arbitrary and unknown function of time.

Results of Conservative Management of Clinically Localized Prostate Cancer
Gerald W. Chodak,Ronald A. Thisted,Glenn S. Gerber,Jan-Erik Johansson,Jan Adolfsson,George W. Jones,Geoff D. Chisholm,Boaz Moskovitz,Pinhas M. Livne,John J. Warner +9 more
TL;DR: The strategy of initial conservative management and delayed hormone therapy is a reasonable choice for some men with grade 1 or 2 clinically localized prostate cancer, particularly for those who have an average life expectancy of 10 years or less.

Prostate Specific Antigen Based Disease Control Following Ultrasound Guided sup 125 Iodine Implantation for Stage T1/T2 Prostatic Carcinoma
