Biochemical Outcome After Radical Prostatectomy, External Beam Radiation Therapy, or Interstitial Radiation Therapy for Clinically Localized Prostate Cancer
Anthony V. D'Amico,R. Whittington,S.B. Malkowicz,Daniel Schultz,Kenneth R. Blank,Gregory A. Broderick,John E. Tomaszewski,Andrew A. Renshaw,Irving D. Kaplan,Clair J. Beard,Alan J. Wein +10 more
TL;DR: Low-risk patients had estimates of 5-year PSA outcome after treatment with RP, RT, or implant with or without neoadjuvant androgen deprivation that were not statistically different, whereas intermediate- and high- risk patients treated with RP or RT did better then those treated by implant.

Prognostic implications of an undetectable ultrasensitive prostate-specific antigen level after radical prostatectomy.
Michael L. Eisenberg,Benjamin Davies,Benjamin Davies,Matthew R. Cooperberg,Janet E. Cowan,Peter R. Carroll +5 more
TL;DR: An undetectable USPSA after radical prostatectomy is a prognostic indicator of BCR-free survival at 5 yr and may aid in predicting outcome in higher risk patients.

Risk of Death From Prostate Cancer After Brachytherapy Alone or With Radiation, Androgen Suppression Therapy, or Both in Men With High-Risk Disease
Anthony V. D'Amico,Brian J. Moran,Michelle H. Braccioforte,Daniel Dosoretz,Sharon Salenius,Michael J. Katin,Rudi Ross,Ming-Hui Chen +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a multivariable regression was performed to estimate the risk of prostate cancer-specific mortality after brachytherapy alone or in conjunction with androgen suppression therapy (AST), external-beam radiation therapy (EBRT), or both in men with high-risk PC.

Malate dehydrogenase 2 confers docetaxel resistance via regulations of JNK signaling and oxidative metabolism.
Qiong Liu,Christopher T. Harvey,Hao Geng,Changhui Xue,Vivian Chen,Tomasz M. Beer,David Z. Qian +6 more
TL;DR: Novel mechanistic understandings in cancer cell chemotherapeutic sensitivity and resistance can optimize treatment and improve patient outcome in prostate cancer therapeutics.
Low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy in the treatment of postprostatectomy erectile dysfunction: a pilot study
TL;DR: Low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (LI-ESWT) may improve erectile function after bilateral nerve-sparing RP, and further studies in patients with ED after nerve- Sparing RP are justified.

Alternatively activated macrophages are associated with metastasis and poor prognosis in prostate adenocarcinoma
TL;DR: Analysis of prostate tissues of 42 patients with prostate adenocarcinoma used in the analysis of tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) and AAMs by immunofluorescence and multivariate analyses revealed that Gleason score, level of PSA and number of TAMs were predictors for overall survival rate.

Nonparametric Estimation from Incomplete Observations
Edward L. Kaplan,Paul Meier +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the product-limit (PL) estimator was proposed to estimate the proportion of items in the population whose lifetimes would exceed t (in the absence of such losses), without making any assumption about the form of the function P(t).
Regression Models and Life-Tables
TL;DR: The analysis of censored failure times is considered in this paper, where the hazard function is taken to be a function of the explanatory variables and unknown regression coefficients multiplied by an arbitrary and unknown function of time.

Results of Conservative Management of Clinically Localized Prostate Cancer
Gerald W. Chodak,Ronald A. Thisted,Glenn S. Gerber,Jan-Erik Johansson,Jan Adolfsson,George W. Jones,Geoff D. Chisholm,Boaz Moskovitz,Pinhas M. Livne,John J. Warner +9 more
TL;DR: The strategy of initial conservative management and delayed hormone therapy is a reasonable choice for some men with grade 1 or 2 clinically localized prostate cancer, particularly for those who have an average life expectancy of 10 years or less.

Prostate Specific Antigen Based Disease Control Following Ultrasound Guided sup 125 Iodine Implantation for Stage T1/T2 Prostatic Carcinoma
