Azimuth-dependent model of binaural speech transmission index based on near-field head-related transfer functions
Linda Liang,Guangzheng Yu +1 more
4
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used the head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) of 56 people to obtain the corresponding binaural speech transmission index (BSTI), and analyzed the individual differences among them.

The effect of listener head orientation on front-to-rear speech intelligibility in an automotive cabin
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated the effect of head orientation on speech intelligibility in front-to-rear scenarios in an automobile, using both the speech transmission index (STI) and subjective experiments.

Effect of speaker orientation on speech intelligibility in an automotive environment
Linda Liang,Guangzheng Yu +1 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated the effect of speaker orientation on speech intelligibility in automobiles, using both the speech transmission index (STI) and subjective experiments, and showed that the speaker orientation mostly does not affect SI except when the speaker is facing the listener due to rich early reflections inside an automobile, while the speaker deviating from the listener signifies that the early reflections in the automobile afford a higher SI improvement.
The combined effect of source directivity and binaural listening on near-field binaural speech transmission index evaluation
Linda Liang,Guangzheng Yu +1 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated the effect of binaural listening, background noise, and acoustic conditions in a given space, as well as source characteristics such as directivity.
The speech transmission index of Room-in-Room reproduction between rooms with different size and acoustical conditions
Cheng Lei,Linda Liang,Wei Tan +2 more
- 21 Apr 2023
TL;DR: The STI of RinR reproduction increases when room 2 is small and decreases when room 2 is normal-sized and reverberant.

Some Experiments on the Recognition of Speech, with One and with Two Ears
TL;DR: In this paper, the relation between the messages received by the two ears was investigated, and two types of test were reported: (a) the behavior of a listener when presented with two speech signals simultaneously (statistical filtering problem) and (b) behavior when different speech signals are presented to his two ears.
The effect of head‐induced interaural time and level differences on speech intelligibility in noise
TL;DR: Speech reception thresholds (SRT) for sentences in noise were determined for normal-hearing subjects and the effect of interaural time delay (ITD) and acoustic headshadow on binaural speech intelligibility in noise was made.

A just noticeable difference in C50 for speech
TL;DR: In this article, a just noticeable difference in C50 values was determined for speech sounds in simulated sound fields, and it was estimated that it is probably necessary to increase C50 by approximately 3dB to create a readily detectable improvement in everyday situations.
