TL;DR: In this paper, a correlation degree comparison unit (304) calculates correlation in a first channel (correlation degree between the past signal and the current signal in the first channel) from the first-channel audio signal, and a second-channel signal generation unit (311) compares the correlation in the two channels and selects the channel having the greater correlation.

Abstract: There is provided an audio encoding device capable of effectively encoding stereo audio in audio encoding having monaural-stereo scalable configuration. In this device, a correlation degree comparison unit (304) calculates correlation in a first channel (correlation degree between the past signal and the current signal in the first channel) from the first channel audio signal and calculates correlation in a second channel (correlation degree between the past signal and the current signal in the second channel) from the second channel audio signal. The correlation in the first channel is compared to the correlation in the second channel. A channel having the greater correlation is selected. According to the selection result of a correlation comparison unit (304), a selection unit (305) selects the first channel prediction signal outputted from a first channel prediction unit (307) or the first channel prediction signal outputted from a first channel signal generation unit (311) and outputs the selected signal to a subtractor (303) and a first channel prediction residual signal encoding unit (308).

Jonathan Alastair Gibbs
- 09 Sep 2008
TL;DR: In this article, a frame processor is used to determine an inter-time difference between the first audio signal and the second audio signal, and a set of delays are used to delay at least one of the first and second audio signals in response to the inter time difference signal.

TL;DR: In this paper, bitstream elements of sub-frames are encoded differentially to a global gain value so that a change of the global gain values of the frames results in an adjustment of an output level of the decoded representation of the audio content.

- 30 Oct 2006
TL;DR: In this article, a prediction performance between the individual channels of a stereo signal is improved to improve the sound quality of a decoded signal, where an LPF (101-1) interrupts the high-range component of an S1, and outputs an S 1' (a low-range) component, and a prediction unit (102) predicts the S 2' from the S 1', and outputs a prediction parameter composed of a delay time difference and an amplitude ratio (g).

CS-ACELP speech compression system with adaptive pitch prediction filter gain based on a measure of periodicity
TL;DR: In this paper, a speech coding system employing an adaptive codebook model of periodicity is augmented with a pitch-predictive filter (PPF), which has a delay equal to the integer component of the pitch-period and a gain which is adaptive based on a measure of the periodicity of the speech signal.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for low-frequency emphasizing the spectrum of a sound signal transformed in a frequency domain and comprising transform coefficients grouped in a number of blocks, in which a maximum energy for one block is calculated and a position index of the block with maximum energy is determined, a factor is calculated for each block having a position Index smaller than the position Index of the Block with maximum Energy, and for each blocks a gain is determined from the factor and is applied to the transform coefficients of the blocks.

Lossless compression of digital audio
Mat Hans,R.W. Schafer +1 more
TL;DR: It is found that lossless audio coders have reached a limit in what can be achieved for lossless compression of audio, and a new lossless Audio coder is described called AudioPak, which low algorithmic complexity and performs well or even better than most of the losslessaudio coders that have been described in the literature.
