1. What have the authors contributed in "Astrocyte function from information processing to cognition and cognitive impairment" ?
In this paper, the authors discuss the role of astrocytes in cognitive processing, focusing on memory, and discuss data showing that altered synapse/network function in pathological conditions contributes to cognitive disturbances.

2. What are the future works mentioned in the paper "Astrocyte function from information processing to cognition and cognitive impairment" ?
Only recent findings using state-of- the-art approaches with an ad hoc design to study astrocytes paint a different picture.. The need for D-serine in the early phases of memory formation and the fact that, by controlling its availability, astrocytes control synaptic NMDAR function according to the sleep/wake cycle, suggests that astrocytes link vigilance state to memory formation.. These findings suggest that targeting astrocyte pathways may represent an important new therapeutic opportunity to fight against cognitive alterations or decline in many CNS diseases.
