The macrophage and the apoptotic cell: an innate immune interaction viewed simplistically?
TL;DR: It is suggested that macrophages are especially important in clearing cells at sites of histologically visible, high‐rate apoptosis and that, otherwise, apoptotic cells are removed largely by non‐macrophage neighbours, and challenged the view that necrotic cells are, of necessity, proinflammatory and immunostimulatory.

Maturation of Dendritic Cell 2 Phenotype by a Helminth Glycan Uses a Toll-Like Receptor 4-Dependent Mechanism
Paul G. Thomas,Michele R. Carter,Olga Atochina,Akram A. Da’dara,Danuta Piskorska,Edward McGuire,Donald A. Harn +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown that a helminth carbohydrate, lacto-N-fucopentaose III (LNFPIII) functions as an innate Th2 promoter via its action on murine dendritic cells, with the α1–3-linked fucose required for this activity.

Therapeutic cancer vaccines: are we there yet?
TL;DR: This paper showed that the successful vaccines of the future must confront: (i) a corrupted tumor microenvironment containing regulatory T cells and aberrantly matured myeloid cells, (ii) a tumor-specific T-cell repertoire that is prone to immunologic exhaustion and senescence, and (iii) highly mutable tumor targets capable of antigen loss and immune evasion.
Hormonal regulation of the humoral innate immune response in Drosophila melanogaster
Thomas Flatt,Andreas Heyland,Florentina Rus,Ermelinda Porpiglia,Chris Sherlock,Rochele Yamamoto,Alina Garbuzov,Subba Reddy Palli,Marc Tatar,Neal S. Silverman +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that JH and 20E have antagonistic effects on the induction of antimicrobial peptide genes in Drosophila melanogaster, suggesting that 20E and JH play major roles in the regulation of gene expression in response to immune challenge.
TLR-mediated stimulation of APC: Distinct cytokine responses of B cells and dendritic cells.
TL;DR: Which mouse B cell subsets are the most potent cytokine producers, and the role of Toll‐like receptors (TLR) in the control of secretion of IL‐6,IL‐10, IL‐12 and IFN‐γ by B cells are examined, highlight the potentially unique nature of immune modulation when B cells act as APC.
