Abstract: Processing of plural works can be made simultaneously by using divided laser beams which is issued from one large Co2 laser beam source, the dividing being made by one or more rotary chopper mirror(s) comprising reflecting parts and light passing parts, and its ration and pulsive start and stop of laser oscillation are controlled in interrelated manner and by controlling the duty time of the laser oscillation in PWM manner. The distribution of powers of the laser beams divided by the rotary chopper mirrors is desirably selectable, thereby enabling simultaneous processing of plural works under the different processing conditions.

Material irradiation apparatus with a beam source that produces a processing beam for a workpiece, and a process for operation thereof
Schweizer Juergen Dr
- 06 Feb 2001
TL;DR: In this paper, a material irradiation apparatus with a beam splitting device following the beam source produces a processing beam, by which the processing beam is divided into several partial beams each of which can be deflected by a deflecting device discretely associated with it to different places on at least one workpiece to be processed, independently of other partial beams.

Method of forming a hole with a laser and an apparatus for forming a hole with a laser
Hideo Inagawa,Shigenobu Nojo,Tohru Ohsaka +2 more
- 30 Mar 1992
TL;DR: A hole forming method with a laser beam and a hole forming laser apparatus improves the efficiency of hole formation without deterioration in the quality of the formed hole as mentioned in this paper. But this method requires a large number of articles to be placed on the working optical axes.

Rotary beam chopper and scanning system
Colin Shaw Mcarthur,Douglas Copeland Clark +1 more
- 02 Aug 1977
TL;DR: In this article, an optical laser beam chopper for converting a continuous beam into a series of scanning impulses for use in perforating a moving web is disclosed. But the beam passes through a rotary chopper, or shutter, system which incorporates a plurality of rotary discs each of which carries one or more annular rings divided into segments, and each ring is formed of a reflective material to act as mirrors for the laser beam, while the remaining segments are in the form of apertures which allow the beam to pass through the disc.

Optical perforating apparatus and system
Ernest Cashwell
- 06 May 1982
TL;DR: In this article, a rotatable assembly having first and second light reflective means supported in spaced succession for rotation about the assembly rotational axis is presented, where light reflective elements of each means are arranged at non-orthogonal angles to the assembly axis, thereby permitting parallel orientation of the latter axis and the laser beam.

Linearized scanning system and method for an energy beam
Charles B. Ackerman
- 25 Jun 1984
TL;DR: In this paper, a scanning system for linearized application of an energy beam along at least one of a plurality of predetermined axes is described, where a helicopter intercepts the energy beam for alternately reflecting and passing it, providing successive reflective and passed beams respectively therefrom.
