Abstract: In developing countries, the utilities are facing many difficulties in maintaining the balance between supply and demand, leading to frequent load shedding and a drop in power quality. The continuous overloading of the electrical distribution system causes a reduction in the lifespan of the distribution transformer. Hence with the help of the Internet of Things, efficient power distribution in a particular area between more numbers of nodes is achieved in the proposed system. This system comprises an ESP32 controller, nRF communication network, current sensor, real-time clock, and monitoring devices. The system proposed is performing load scheduling based on the power generated and the customer requirement in the peak hours, (i) To achieve the peak clipping feature of demand side management (ii) To attain efficient energy management between two different nodes and (iii) the protection of distribution transformer lifespan. The electricity board can monitor the node status, whether active or inactive, using the webpage. The alert messages regarding node status can be sent to the respective customers. This proposed system managed to reduce energy consumption and improve the overall efficiency.
