An Introduction to the Study of Stellar Structure
2.4K
TL;DR: Chandrasekhar et al. as mentioned in this paper used the internal constitution of the stars to give a classical account of his own researches and of the general state of the theory at that time.

Abstract: EDDINGTON'S “Internal Constitution of the Stars” was published in 1926 and gives what now ranks as a classical account of his own researches and of the general state of the theory at that time. Since then, a tremendous amount of work has appeared. Much of it has to do with the construction of stellar models with different equations of state applying in different zones. Other parts deal with the effects of varying chemical composition, with pulsation and tidal and rotational distortion of stars, and with the precise relations between the interior and the atmosphere of a star. The striking feature of all this work is that so much can be done without assuming any particular mechanism of stellar energy-generation. Only such very comprehensive assumptions are made about the distribution and behaviour of the energy sources that we may expect future knowledge of their mechanism to lead mainly to more detailed results within the framework of the existing general theory. Smoothed particle hydrodynamics
TL;DR: In this article, the theory and application of Smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) since its inception in 1977 are discussed, focusing on the strengths and weaknesses, the analogy with particle dynamics and the numerous areas where SPH has been successfully applied.

Theory of Star Formation
TL;DR: In this paper, an overall theoretical framework and the observations that motivate it are outlined, outlining the key dynamical processes involved in star formation, including turbulence, magnetic fields, and self-gravity.
Equation of state of nucleon matter and neutron star structure
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the properties of dense nucleon matter and the structure of neutron stars using variational chain summation methods and the new Argonne two-nucleon interaction, which provides an excellent fit to all of the nucleon-Nucleon scattering data in the Nijmegen database.

Electrostatic rogue-waves in relativistically degenerate plasmas
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the modulational instability and the possibility of electrostatic rogue-wave propagations in a completely degenerate plasma with arbitrary degree of degeneracy, i.e., relativistically degenerate plasmas, ranging from solid density to the astrophysical compact stars.

Gelfand type elliptic problems under Steklov boundary conditions
TL;DR: For a Gelfand type semilinear elliptic equation, this article extended some known results for the Dirichlet problem to the Steklov problem and discovered new phenomena, in particular a different behavior of the branch of solutions and three kinds of blow-up for large solutions in critical growth equations.
Analytical Blowup Solutions to the Pressureless Navier-Stokes-Poisson Equations with Density-dependent Viscosity in R^N
TL;DR: In this paper, the N-dimensional pressureless Navier-Stokes-Poisson equations with density-dependent viscosity were studied and the analytical blowup solutions, in radial symmetry, in R^N were constructed.

Statistical mechanics of the self-gravitating gas with two or more kinds of particles.
H. J. de Vega,J.A. Siebert +1 more
TL;DR: The statistical mechanics of the self-gravitating gas at thermal equilibrium with two kinds of particles are studied to possess an infinite volume limit when (N(1),N(2),V)--> infinity, and the saddle point approximation becomes here exact for (N1,N2,V--> infinity.

An adaptive space-time Newton–Galerkin approach for semilinear singularly perturbed parabolic evolution equations
Mario Amrein,Thomas P. Wihler +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an adaptive procedure for the numerical solution of semilinear parabolic problems with possible singular perturbations was developed, which combines a linearization technique using Newton's method with an adaptive discretization, based on a spatial finite element method and the backward Euler time-stepping scheme.
