2.4K
TL;DR: Chandrasekhar et al. as mentioned in this paper used the internal constitution of the stars to give a classical account of his own researches and of the general state of the theory at that time.

Abstract: EDDINGTON'S “Internal Constitution of the Stars” was published in 1926 and gives what now ranks as a classical account of his own researches and of the general state of the theory at that time. Since then, a tremendous amount of work has appeared. Much of it has to do with the construction of stellar models with different equations of state applying in different zones. Other parts deal with the effects of varying chemical composition, with pulsation and tidal and rotational distortion of stars, and with the precise relations between the interior and the atmosphere of a star. The striking feature of all this work is that so much can be done without assuming any particular mechanism of stellar energy-generation. Only such very comprehensive assumptions are made about the distribution and behaviour of the energy sources that we may expect future knowledge of their mechanism to lead mainly to more detailed results within the framework of the existing general theory. Smoothed particle hydrodynamics
TL;DR: In this article, the theory and application of Smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) since its inception in 1977 are discussed, focusing on the strengths and weaknesses, the analogy with particle dynamics and the numerous areas where SPH has been successfully applied.

Theory of Star Formation
TL;DR: In this paper, an overall theoretical framework and the observations that motivate it are outlined, outlining the key dynamical processes involved in star formation, including turbulence, magnetic fields, and self-gravity.
Equation of state of nucleon matter and neutron star structure
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the properties of dense nucleon matter and the structure of neutron stars using variational chain summation methods and the new Argonne two-nucleon interaction, which provides an excellent fit to all of the nucleon-Nucleon scattering data in the Nijmegen database.

Numerical Solution of Singular IVPs of Emden-Fowler Type Using Legendre Scaling Functions
Mehrdad Lakestani,Behzad Nemati Saray +1 more
- 01 Jan 2012
TL;DR: In this article, a numerical technique is presented for the solution of the Lane-Emden equation (1.3) using the Legendre scaling functions, which is easy to implement and produces very accurate results.
Resonant Electron-Plasmon Interactions in Drifting Electron Gas
TL;DR: In this paper, the resonant electron-plasmon interactions in a drifting electron gas of arbitrary degeneracy were investigated and it was revealed that only the low phase-speed branch of the dispersion curve is significantly affected by the kinetic correction.

A Singular Initial-Value Problem for Second-Order Differential Equations
TL;DR: In this article, the existence of solutions to initial value problems for second-order nonlinear singular differential equations is proved under conditions which are considerably weaker than previously known conditions, and the existence can be explained in terms of a more simple initial value problem.
High order discretely well-balanced finite volume methods for Euler equations with gravity - without any à priori information about the hydrostatic solution.
TL;DR: Novel high order well-balanced finite volume methods for the full compressible Euler system with gravity source term are introduced that improve the capability to accurately resolve small perturbations on hydrostatic states.
