Abstract: Measurements on X-ray photographs of cylindrical specimens of different absorption and thickness taken in a camera without eccentricity show that the absorption error in the apparent unit-cell dimension a is proportional to cos2θ/sinθ + cos2θ/θ. The plot of a against ½(cos2θ/sinθ + cos2θ/θ) is linear down to θ = 30° for all four specimens used. The extrapolated values for a are in good agreement, and this extrapolation function is accordingly recommended in the case of data from well constructed cameras. Other extrapolation functions are also considered, and the effect of various sources of error discussed. A table of ½(cos2θ/sinθ + cos2θ/θ) is given.

TL;DR: Internal gelation of U1-zCeO2±x microspheres yields cation-heterogeneity, with systematic Ce concentration gradients and minor hexagonal Ce4.67(SiO4)3O phase precipitates, contradicting single-phase fluorite-type solid solution assumption.

Challenges for Pulsed Laser Deposition of FeSe Thin Films.
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors address various technical issues in thin film growth of anti-PbO-type FeSe by pulsed laser deposition, which pose constraints in engineering and reduce the application potential for FeSe thin films in sensor devices.

A method for deducing accurate values of the lattice spacing from X-ray powder photographs taken by the Debye-Scherrer method
A J Bradley,A H Jay +1 more
- 01 Sep 1932
TL;DR: In this article, a method for obtaining accurate values of lattice spacings from X-ray powder photographs taken in the usual circular type of camera is proposed, where the exposed portion of the film is limited by sharp knife edges, and the length Sk is measured for each film at the same time as the distance S between corresponding pairs of lines.
