This paper has examined the impact of open innovation business model in technology commercialization by applying the data from 30 companies of manufacturing firms in South Korea. The findings provide support for distinguishing five hypotheses relating to development time, IP management, sales, firm size and R&D intensity. The result shows that openness in its business model is positively associated with successful technology commercialization. The following are the major findings and the implications. First, the results of the regression analysis indicate that firms having open business models are more likely to have a higher level of innovative performance. Secondly, the findings indicate that in general R&D intensity, firm size and the level of IP management affect the determination of business model type.

Fostering Technology Commercialization through Open Innovation

In wireless sensor networks, virtual backbone has been proposed as the routing infra-structure and connected dominating set has been widely adopted as virtual backbone. If we can find a connected dominating set composed of small number of sensors, more efficient routing and area monitoring can be executed. However, since the sensors in wireless sensor networks are prone to failures, recent studies suggest that, it is also important to maintain a certain degree of redundancy in the backbone. In this paper, we both consider the routing flexibility and the fault tolerance which are hard to achieve in connected dominating set. Since the objective is constructing the backbone with a small number of sensors, this problem is referred to as the minimum k-connected m-dominating set problem. In this research, we use an integer programming approach to find an optimal solution to the problem, and to the best of our knowledge, this is the first exact approach. Some preliminary computational results are included, and extension on the research will be discussed.

On constructing minimum k-connected m-dominating set for robust backbone in wireless sensor networks

In the network switch development, there are many optimization issues. This paper deals with the configuration of design issues. We discuss the issue as how to configure the switch to minimum cost with a given chipset and redefine the problem as to configure it with the minimum number of crossbar switches connected within 2 hops. This issue is combinatorial optimization problem and we formulate this problem to mathematical model(MIP). We"ve derived several interesting properties of the graphs representing the solutions of the problem.
