Morphology and molecular phylogeny of Thalassiosira sinica sp. nov. (Bacillariophyta) with delicate areolae and fultoportulae pattern
TL;DR: The molecular phylogeny, inferred from both SSU and LSU sequences, does, however, not support the validity of subgroup C, as the closest allies of T. sinica here turned out to be T. diporocyclus and T. lundiana, species in which the rimoportulae are located on the valve margin.

Diversity of phlorotannin profiles among sargassasacean species affecting variation and abundance of epiphytes
TL;DR: The results suggest that some phlorotannin components may be more effective for antifouling; thus interspecific differences in the phlorOTannin profile could affect the variation and abundance of epiphytes.

The Influence of Fetch on the Holocene Thermal Structure of Hidden Lake, Glacier National Park
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of effective fetch on diatom-inferred changes in mixing depths throughout the Holocene was assessed using three-dimensional modeling of the basin of Hidden Lake, Montana, and it was shown that small changes in the lake surface elevation at Hidden Lake would produce thresholdlike responses in effective fetch, which in turn would have a profound influence on average lake mixing depth.
The Punta de la Mona Rhodolith Bed: Shallow-Water Mediterranean Rhodoliths (Almuñecar, Granada, Southern Spain)
TL;DR: A detailed analysis of the structure (rhodolith cover and density, rhodolith size and shape, sediment granulometry) and morphospecies composition of the bed along a depth gradient is presented in this article .
