TL;DR: The aim of this review is to present the main clinical, histological, and molecular features of aggressive variants of follicular cell-derived thyroid carcinoma, and to provide useful histological parameters for determining the most suitable therapeutic strategy for patients affected by these forms.

Circ_0011373 promotes papillary thyroid carcinoma progression by regulating miR-1271/LRP6 axis.
TL;DR: Circ_0011373 might be able to regulate PTC cell cycle, migration, invasion, and apoptosis by regulating the miR-1271/LRP6 axis.

Meshael Alswailem,Balgees Alghamdi,Anwar Alotaibi,Abeer Aljomiah,Hindi Al-Hindi,Avaniyapuram Kannan Murugan,Mohamed Abouelhoda,Yufei Shi,Ali S. Alzahrani +8 more
TL;DR: In this article , the molecular genetics of 22 patients with DSPTC were analyzed using Sanger sequencing and a gene panel next-generation sequencing (NGS) to characterize the genomic landscape of these tumors.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma with aggressive fused follicular and solid growth pattern: A unique histological subtype with high‐grade malignancy?
Shin-ichi Murata,Ibu Matsuzaki,Mitsuo Kishimoto,Naomi Katsuki,Toshinori Onishi,Mitsuyoshi Hirokawa,Fumiyoshi Kojima +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a 56-year-old Japanese woman with Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) showed characteristic histological features of a predominantly fused follicular and focally solid (FFS) pattern.

- 14 Dec 2023
TL;DR: Age, tumor size, capsular invasion, and multifocality are independent risk factors for the development of LNM in DSV-PTC patients and the nomogram model can predict the risk of developing LNM in DSV-PTC patients and provide clinical guidance.

Histological and molecular genetic characteristics of clinically aggressive variants of papillary thyroid carcinoma: a literature review
TL;DR: In this paper , the most aggressive forms of PTC include diffuse sclerosing, tall cell, and insular variants of thyroid cancer, and the highest frequency of BRAF V600E among PTC is shown by the high-cell variant of PCT (90%), also significantly higher with ''shoe nail» cells than in classical PTC and varies from 40-90%.

The micropapillary/hobnail variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma: A review of series described in the literature compared to a series from one southern Italy pathology institution
Antonio Ieni,Valeria Barresi,Roberta Cardia,Luana Licata,Flavia Di Bari,Salvatore Benvenga,Giovanni Tuccari +6 more
TL;DR: MPHC prognosis appears to be better compared to other cohorts, probably due to not only to the lower rate of the vascular invasion, but also to the smaller size of the MPHC-PTC nodule.
Poorly Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma: Single Centre Experience and Review of the Literature.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the epidemiology, diagnosis, and management of PDTC and report their single centre experience to add to the limited evidence existing in the literature, which has important prognostic and therapeutic significance.
Solid variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma: An analysis of 28 cases with current literature.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors re-evaluate the histopathological and clinicopathological features of 28 patients with SVPTC in the light of current literature and show that the tumor cells had characteristic nuclear features of conventional PTC, such as widespread angioinvasion, extrathyroidal extension, lymph node metastasis, and distant organ metastasis.

TL;DR: Tumors from the USA and from Italy showed similar overall survival, although the prevalence of poorly differentiated carcinoma was higher in Northern Italy, and the risk of death was higher for age ≥45, tumors ≥4 cm, and IMP3 positivity.

TL;DR: Aggressive surgery in patients with poorly differentiated thyroid cancer showing gross ETE resulted in satisfactory locoregional control, and the majority of patients who presented with or subsequently developed distant metastases eventually died of distant disease.
