2-μm lasers with fluoride crystals: Research and development
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a review of the 2 μ m laser based on fluoride crystals and provide a brief description of the theoretical aspects of rare earth ions embedded in insulating crystals, with particular attention to the advantages in using fluoride single crystals and the growth technique.

Rb2CdBr2I2: a new IR nonlinear optical material with a large laser damage threshold.
TL;DR: The preliminary measurement indicated that Rb2CdBr2I2 is a new promising candidate for NLO materials in the IR region and exhibits a large laser-induced damage threshold (LDT) which is 6 times that of AgGaS2.

Ultralow Gradient HGF-Grown ZnGeP2 and CdGeAs2 and Their Optical Properties
TL;DR: In this article, the horizontal gradient-freeze (HGF) growth technique has been used to control stoichiometry by minimizing vapor transport as well as to eliminate cracking due to anisotropic thermal expansion.

Femtosecond parametric generation in ZnGeP 2
TL;DR: Traveling-wave optical parametric generation in short (2-mm) ZnGeP(2) samples with reduced anomalous absorption is reported, using femtosecond pump pulses near 2 mum and the signal and the idler waves generated could be tuned from 2.5 to 10 mum, extending the tunability of the beta-barium borate Optical parametric generator used as a pump source to the mid-infrared.
