TL;DR: Mono-alkenes, aliphatic conjugated dienes and unsaturated fatty acids or esters thereof copolymerize with a Friedel-Crafts catalyst to yield a copolymers containing carboxylic acid or ester groups which are reacted with a polyamine to amidate the carboxyl group leaving free amine groups as discussed by the authors.

TL;DR: In this article, a novel type of chemical polymerization product and methods of preparing such products and using them for various purposes, more particularly as pour depressors in waxy lubricating oils, are described.
