1. Who influenced the study in Port Moresby during the 1970s?
Several senior Australian scholars, including Anthony Clunies Ross, E.K. (Fred) Fisk, Nigel Oram, and Charles Rowley, influenced the study in Port Moresby during the 1970s. Other contemporaries such as John Langmore, the late Bill Standish, and Christine Inglis also informed the understanding of the period. Australian-based scholars like W.R. (Bill) Stent and Ian Hughes also contributed significantly to the study. In the new century, young Papua New Guinean scholars like Dr Nayahamui Rooney, Dr Elizabeth Kopel, Dr Fiona Hukula, and Mr Busa Jeremiah Wenogo have engaged in grassroots research, making the informal economy a matter of pressing concern. The author is also grateful for the assistance of Alison Sloper in preparing the index for the volume.
