Diagonally Implicit Runge-Kutta Methods for Ordinary Differential Equations. A Review
Christopher A. Kennedy,Mark H. Carpenter +1 more
- 01 Mar 2016
TL;DR: A review of diagonally implicit Runge-Kutta (DIRK) methods applied to rst-order ordinary di erential equations (ODEs) is undertaken and ESDIRK4(3)6L[2]SA is recommended as a good default method for solving sti problems at moderate error tolerances.
Design of optimally smoothing multistage schemes for the Euler equations
TL;DR: A recently derived local preconditioning of the Euler equations is shown to be useful in developing multistage schemes suited for multigrid use and makes possible the development of explicit marching schemes that effectively damp most high-frequency Fourier modes, as desired in multigrids applications.

Analysis of a local matrix preconditioner for the 2-D Navier-Stokes equations
Steven R. Allmaras
- 06 Jul 1993
TL;DR: A local matrix preconditioner based on block-Jacobi is analyzed for the linearized 2-D compressible NavierStokes equations discretized using firstand secondorder accurate upwinding to tightly cluster residual eigenvalues for high-frequency Fourier modes.

Multigrid solution of the Euler equations with local preconditioning.
TL;DR: Evidence is given that local preconditioning of Euler and Navier-Stokes schemes enhances both single and multigrid performance.
