Abstract: Absolute calibration forms a valuable diagnostic tool in small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) experiments, and allows the parameters of a given model to be restricted to the set which reproduces the observed intensity. Discrepancies between the observed and calculated intensities may arise from potential artifacts or even new physical processes and absolute calibration methods are useful in delineating these circumstances. General methods which are available for absolute scaling are discussed along with estimates of the degree of internal consistency which may be achieved between the various standards. In order to minimize the time devoted to calibration in a given experimental program, emphasis is placed on developing a set of precalibrated strongly scattering standards which may be run in the chosen experimental geometry. Comparison of such a set developed at the National Center for Small-Angle Scattering Research (Oak Ridge) with independent determinations by SANS users indicates consistency to within ± 5%.

TL;DR: In this article, the diblock copolyelectrolytes were obtained via quasi-living Kumada catalyst-transfer polycondensation followed by quaternisation of the bromohexyl side chains of one of the monomer constituents into N-methylimidazolium, pyridinium, trimethylammonium or trimethylphosphonium units.

TL;DR: Analysis of SANS, cryo-SEM and NMR spectroscopy data reveals that the gel-like mesophase has a lamellar microstructure that transition from rolled lamellAR sheets to onion-like, multilamellar structures with increasing Tween 80 content.

A small-angle neutron scattering study of the plastic deformation of linear polyethylene
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of partial melting-recrystallization during the solid-state deformation of the polymer in pure shear was investigated and it was shown that the major reorganization and homogenization occur at low strain.

Swelling-induced structure changes of polyelectrolyte gels
TL;DR: In this article, the structural changes of hydrophilic polymer networks were studied by SANS and the size of heterogeneities in the network was measured for gels swollen in different amount of water.
