Abstract: Teaching programming is an important part of the ICT education field, and helps to increase the ability of analyzing, logical thinking, and solving procedural problems. To learn how to make program, students should be able to develop programs and run them immediately on their own computers. However, this requires a compiler/interpreter to be available on the local machine, which is not always possible. We developed a Web-based educational environment for the Basic language, which includes an interpreter so that students' programs can be executed on the server. This way, students can develop, edit and run programs over the Internet even if they do not set up the language translator program on their local computers.
