Conservation laws for multilevel transfer problems
TL;DR: In this article, the Lagrangian approach is applied to the multilevel problem of radiative transfer in a homogeneous atmosphere and it is shown that the constraints imposed by the variational principle on the symmetry properties of the transfer equations are too stringent to be satisfied.
