A surface structural approach to ion adsorption : The charge distribution (CD) model
1K
TL;DR: In this paper, an ion adsorption model for metal hydroxides has been developed which deals with the observation that in the case of inner sphere complex formation only part of the surface complex is incorporated into the surface by a ligand exchange reaction while the other part is located in the Stern layer.

Analysis of phosphate adsorption onto ferrihydrite using the CD-MUSIC model.
Juan Antelo,Sarah Fiol,Claudio Pérez,Silvia Mariño,Florencio Arce,D. Gondar,R. López +6 more
- 01 Jul 2010
TL;DR: Describing the phosphate adsorption process onto ferrihydrite nanoparticles, for the entire pH and ionic strength range, has been made taking into account the presence of protonated and nonprotonated bidentate surface complexes.

Zn isotopic fractionation caused by sorption on goethite and 2-Lines ferrihydrite
Farid Juillot,Chloé Maréchal,Marie Ponthieu,S. Cacaly,Guillaume Morin,Marc F. Benedetti,Jean-Louis Hazemann,Olivier Proux,François Guyot +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the role of reactions at the Fe-oxyhydroxide/water interface in changes of the isotopic distribution of Zn was investigated to quantify the contribution of various sources and/or biogeochemical processes involving this element.

Modeling the adsorption of Cd (II), Cu (II), Ni (II), Pb (II) and Zn (II) onto montmorillonite
TL;DR: In this article, the adsorption of five toxic metallic cations, Cd, Cu, Ni and Zn, onto montmorillonite was investigated as a function of pH and ionic strength.

Sorption of radionuclides from aqueous systems onto graphene oxide-based materials: a review
TL;DR: In this paper, a review summarizes the preparation of GO-based materials and their application in the sorption of radionuclides (such as U(VI), Eu(III), Sr(II), etc.) from aqueous systems.

How fertile are earthworm casts? A meta-analysis
Jan Willem van Groenigen,Kees Jan van Groenigen,Gerwin F. Koopmans,Lotte Stokkermans,Hannah M. J. Vos,Ingrid M. Lubbers +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the fertility of earthworm casts was quantified using meta-analysis, and the authors identified its controlling factors, such as the presence of plants, availability of available pools of N (total mineral N) and available P (available P: P-Olsen, P-Bray or comparable metrics), C-to-N ratio and microbial biomass C.
