Abstract: to achieve interoperability among learning repositories, implementers require a common communication framework for querying. This paper proposes a set of methods referred to as Simple Query Interface (SQI) as a universal interoperability layer for educational networks. The methods proposed can be used by a source for configuring and submitting queries to a target system and retrieving results from it. The SQI interface can be implemented in a synchronous or an asynchronous manner. SQI abstracts from query languages and metadata schemas. SQI has been evaluated by several prototype implementations demonstrating its universal applicability, and is on the way to being standardized in the CEN/ISSS Learning Technologies Workshop. The latest developments of SQI can be followed at http://www.prolearn-project.org/lori/.

Blind men and elephants: What do citation summaries tell us about a research article?
TL;DR: The study shows that citation summaries overlap to some extent with the Abstracts of the papers and that they also differ from them in that they focus on different aspects of these papers than do the abstracts.

TL;DR: The issue of semantic interoperability of educational contents on the Web is dealt with by considering the integration of learning standards, Semantic Web, and adaptive technologies to meet the requirements of learners.
Automatic evaluation of metadata quality in digital repositories
Xavier Ochoa,Erik Duval +1 more
TL;DR: A set of scalable quality metrics for metadata based on the Bruce & Hillman framework for metadata quality control is presented and it is found that several metrics, especially Text Information Content, correlate well with human evaluation and that the average of all the metrics are roughly as effective as people to flag low-quality instances.
Quantitative Analysis of Learning Object Repositories
Xavier Ochoa,Erik Duval +1 more
- 30 Jun 2008
TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted a detailed quantitative study of the publication process of learning objects in repositories and found that the amount of learning object is distributed among repositories according to a power law and the repositories mostly grow linearly.

TL;DR: The invention refers to a class of new compounds as well as a new process for making these compounds. The new compounds correspond to the general formula WHEREIN A1 represents a heterocyclic ring system which (a) is free of ring nitrogen atoms and of hydrogen atoms which are replaceable by alkali metal, and (b) is bonded by a ring carbon atom to B1, or has two adjacent ring carbon atoms in common with B1.
