Abstract: This paper proposes the overview of UHVDC transmission system, which is widely used for long distance and large capacity transmission. Since the long distance of DC lines are perplexing, which fetches the environment. The fault in HVDC system that has uppermost liability in sense. A bipolar system that can perform the polarities on both poles. These various techniques involve in UHVDC are ANN, Wavelet, Hardware implementation loop.

Directional Traveling-Wave Protection Based on Slope Change Analysis
C. Aguilera,E. Orduna,G. Ratta +2 more
TL;DR: A new approach that deduces the fault direction based on the traveling-wave directional principle by means of wavelet transforms decomposes the voltage signals and calculates the spectral energy at selected detail which allows detecting the fault and to choose the phase to make the slope change analysis.

Realization of the transient-based boundary protection for HVDC transmission lines based on high frequency energy criteria
Song Zhang,B.H. Zhang,Min You,Zhiqian Bo +3 more
- 13 Dec 2010
TL;DR: In this paper, the energy of high frequency components (2000Hz∼10kHz) is extracted based on the attenuation characteristic of the line boundary, then a novel algorithm for the non-unit transient-based protection is acquired.

TL;DR: The use of ultra high voltage direct current (UHVDC) has been found to be economically attractive for power blocks up to 6000 MW for distances above 1000 km, Furthermore the use of 800 kV as transmission voltage will be achievable within the near future with a limited amount of development work none of the AC equipment, auxiliary equipment or control and protection will be affected by the increase of DC voltage as mentioned in this paper.
