Abstract: Adaptive resource allocation is an important issue in OFDM systems. In this paper, a new bandwidth optimization method to search for all unusable sub-channels is proposed. The new method proposed in this paper can be applied conveniently to different optimization problems (RA or MA) only by changing the initial value of the water-filling level and the formula when update the water-filling level. Simulation results show that the improved algorithm proposed based on the new method also can achieve the optimal solution to that of the well-known optimal algorithm - Greedy algorithm with lower computational complexity.

Dynamic Bound Restriction Iterative Algorithm Framework and Application to Power and Bit Allocation in OFDM Systems
TL;DR: This paper proposes a dynamic bound restriction iterative algorithm (DBRIA) framework, which can make iterative algorithms converge quickly, and applies this framework to realize computationally efficient iteration-based suboptimal bit and power allocation in OFDM systems.

Transmit power adaptation for multiuser OFDM systems
Ji-Ho Jang,Kwang Bok Lee +1 more
TL;DR: A transmit power adaptation method that maximizes the total data rate of multiuser orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems in a downlink transmission and proposes a simple method where users with the best channel gain for each subcarrier are selected and then the transmit power is equally distributed among the subcarriers.
Bandwidth optimization for high speed data transmission over channels with severe intersymbol interference
P.S. Chow,John M. Cioffi +1 more
- 06 Dec 1992
TL;DR: Algorithms are presented for finding the optimal transmission bandwidth in terms of either maximizing the overall data throughput or maximizing the system performance margin, given a fixed target data rate, for high speed data transmission over channels with severe intersymbol interference.

Kaiming Liu,Feifei Yin,Wenbo Wang,Yuanan Liu +3 more
- 01 Jan 2005
TL;DR: A simplified bandwidth optimization method is proposed to search for all usable subchannels for loading algorithms which aim at the minimization of power consumption with constraint of constant data rate and target bit error rate (BER).

A maximum rate loading algorithm for discrete multitone modulation systems
A. Leke,J.M. Cioffi +1 more
- 03 Nov 1997
TL;DR: A novel approach to loading for discrete multitone modulation (DMT) systems is proposed, which assigns energy to different subchannels in order to maximize the data rate for a given margin while previous algorithms proposed are aimed mainly at maximizing the margin at a target data rate.
