A general method applicable to the search for similarities in the amino acid sequence of two proteins
TL;DR: A computer adaptable method for finding similarities in the amino acid sequences of two proteins has been developed and it is possible to determine whether significant homology exists between the proteins to trace their possible evolutionary development.

Optimization alignment: the end of multiple sequence alignment in phylogenetics?
TL;DR: A method is described to assess directly the number of DNA sequence transformations, evolutionary events, required by a phylogenetic topology without the use of multiple sequence alignment through a generalization of existing character optimization procedures to include insertion and deletion events (indels) in addition to base substitutions.

2 Evolutionary and Structural Relationships among Dehydrogenases
TL;DR: Functional properties in the development of the oligomeric structures of dehydrogenases and a larger group of enzymes, which are functionally or structurally related possibly because of common nucleotide binding properties are explored.

ZO-3, a Novel Member of the MAGUK Protein Family Found at the Tight Junction, Interacts with ZO-1 and Occludin
TL;DR: A 130-kD protein that coimmunoprecipitates with the tight junction protein ZO-1 was bulk purified from Madin-Darby canine kidney cells and subjected to partial endopeptidase digestion and amino acid sequencing, providing the basis for screening canine cDNA libraries.

An improved method of testing for evolutionary homology.
TL;DR: A more sensitive method of searching for a homologous relation between two proteins is presented and results for α - and β -hemoglobin, for which the homology is already known, are presented and shown to be consistent.
