TL;DR: The specific expression of DC-CK1 by dendritic cells at the site of initiation of an immune response, combined with its chemotactic activity for naive T cells, suggests that DC- cK1 has an important rule in the induction of immune responses.

Abstract: Dendritic cells form a system of highly efficient antigen-presenting cells. After capturing antigen in the periphery, they migrate to lymphoid organs where they present the antigen to T cells1,2. Their seemingly unique ability to interact with and sensitize naive T cells gives dendritic cells a central role in the initiation of immune responses and allows them to be used in therapeutic strategies against cancer, viral infection and other diseases. How they interact preferentially with naive rather than activated T lymphocytes is still poorly understood. Chemokines direct the transport of white blood cells in immune surveillance3,4. Here we report the identification and characterization of a C-C chemokine (DC-CK1) that is specifically expressed by human dendritic cells at high levels. Tissue distribution analysis demonstrates that dendritic cells present in germinal centres and T-cell areas of secondary lymphoid organs express this chemokine. We show that DC-CK1, in contrast to RANTES, MIP-1α and interleukin-8, preferentially attracts naive T cells (CD45RA+). The specific expression of DC-CK1 by dendritic cells at the site of initiation of an immune response, combined with its chemotactic activity for naive T cells, suggests that DC-CK1 has an important rule in the induction of immune responses.

Characterisation of tumour microenvironment and immune checkpoints in primary central nervous system diffuse large B cell lymphomas
Melissa Alame,Marion Pirel,Valérie Costes-Martineau,Luc Bauchet,Michel Fabbro,Alicia Tourneret,Laura De Oliveira,Luc Durand,Pascal Roger,Samia Gonzalez,Valère Cacheux,Valérie Rigau,Vanessa Szablewski +12 more
TL;DR: It was shown that expression of PD1 on TILs and PDL1 on TAMs, but not the expression ofPD1 on tumour B cells was correlated with better prognosis, which support a significant role of TME composition and PD1/PDL1 crosstalk in PCNS-DLBCL pathogenesis and bring new insights to the targeted therapy of this aggressive lymphoma.
Randomized controlled phase III trial of adjuvant chemo-immunotherapy with activated killer T cells and dendritic cells in patients with resected primary lung cancer
TL;DR: Immunotherapy has the potential to improve the postsurgical prognosis of lung cancer patients, but a large-scale multi-institutional RCT is awaited for further confirmation of this study.
Epstein-Barr Virus–induced Molecule 1 Ligand Chemokine Is Expressed by Dendritic Cells in Lymphoid Tissues and Strongly Attracts Naive T Cells and Activated B Cells
TL;DR: A central role for ELC is suggested in promoting encounters between recirculating T cells and dendritic cells and in the migration of activated B cells into the T zone of secondary lymphoid tissues.
Dendritic cell vaccination and immune monitoring
TL;DR: This work studies in small proof of principle trials the fate, interactions and effectiveness of the injected dendritic cells in vaccine-related tumor antigen-specific T cells in delayed type hypersensitivity skin biopsies.
Regulation of dendritic cell trafficking: a process that involves the participation of selective chemokines
TL;DR: A role for chemokines induced on inflammation such as MIP‐3α in recruitment of immature DC at the site of injury and a role for MIP-3β/6Ckine in accumulation of antigen‐loaded mature DC in T cell‐rich areas of the draining lymph node are suggested.

Efficient presentation of soluble antigen by cultured human dendritic cells is maintained by granulocyte/macrophage colony-stimulating factor plus interleukin 4 and downregulated by tumor necrosis factor alpha.
TL;DR: Cultured DCs are as efficient as antigen-specific B cells in presenting tetanus toxoid (TT) to specific T cell clones and their efficiency of antigen presentation can be further enhanced by specific antibodies via FcR- mediated antigen uptake.

The dendritic cell system and its role in immunogenicity
TL;DR: Dendritic cells are specialized to mediate several physiologic components of immunogenicity such as the acquisition of antigens in tissues, the migration to lymphoid organs, and the identification and activation of antigen-specific T cells.

TL;DR: Recombinant human RANTES, Mip-1α, and MIP-1β induced a dose-dependent inhibition of different strains of HIV-1, HIV-2, and simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) and may have relevance for the prevention and therapy of AIDS.

TL;DR: Large numbers of DC progenitors are observed in cord blood and in adult blood from healthy donors, which should facilitate future studies of their Fc epsilon RI and CD4 receptors, and their use in stimulating T cell-mediated resistance to viruses and tumors.
