Abstract: In this paper, a 4 × 4 microstrip filtering antenna array with compact size is presented. The proposed antenna array consists of three metal layers which are bonded by two substrates. The radiation patches are placed on the top layer which are fed by the feeding network on the bottom layer through the slot on the middle layer. There are no extra filtering elements in the antenna array therefore miniaturization is achieved. The return loss of the proposed antenna array is better than 10dB, and the radiation suppression is higher than 20 dB at the stopband, and the maximum gain in the passband is 14 dB.

Experimentally Validated, Planar, Wideband, Electrically Small, Monopole Filtennas Based on Capacitively Loaded Loop Resonators
TL;DR: In this article, two planar efficient wideband electrically small monopole filtennas are presented, one directly evolved from a common planar capacitively loaded loop (CLL)-based filter and the other consisting of a driven element augmented with a CLL structure and slots etched into its ground plane.
