A Beta-logistic Model for the Analysis of Sequential Labor Force Participation by Married Women
TL;DR: In this paper, a generalization of the cross-section logit model was proposed to deal with sequences of discrete events in panel data. But the model was applied to panel data on labor force participation of married women and the distribution of participation probabilities is U-shaped, indicating that most women have participation probabilities near zero or near one.

Abstract: In this paper, we discuss statistical problems that arise in studying sequences of quantal responses (e.g., labor force participation) in panel data on heterogeneous populations (i.e., populations in which there is unobserved variation in response probabilities). Assuming that response probabilities are governed by a beta distribution, we derive a generalization on of the cross-section logit model to enable it to deal with sequences of discrete events in panel data. This model is applied to panel data on labor force participation of married women. One of our findings is that the distribution of participation probabilities is U shaped, indicating that most women have participation probabilities near zero or near one.

The Random Coefficients Logit Model is Identified
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the distribution of random coefficients in the multinomial choice logit model is nonparametrically identified, which is the first nonparametric analysis of the model.
Regression Analysis of Multivariate Fractional Data
TL;DR: In this paper, alternative regression models and estimation methods for dealing with multivariate fractional response variables are discussed, both conditional mean models, estimable by nonlinear least squares and quasi-maximum likelihood, and fully parametric models (Dirichlet and Dirichlet-multinomial), estimability by maximum likelihood, are considered.
Fertility and Parental Labor-Force Participation: New Evidence from a Developing Country in the Balkans
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of fertility on parental labor force participation in a developing country in the Balkans, with particular attention to the intervening role of childcare provided by grandparents in extended families, was examined.
Testing Additive Separability of Error Term in Nonparametric Structural Models
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider the additive error structure in nonparametric structural models and propose a test statistic under a set of identification conditions, which require the existence of a control variable such that the regressor is independent of the error term given the control variable.
The duration of contract strikes in u.s. manufacturing
TL;DR: In this paper, the hazard function for strike duration and cyclical changes in this function, using data on contract strikes in U.S. manufacturing industries, were investigated. And they found that the hazard rate is generally a U-shaped function of strike age.
