Abstract: Since the mid-2000s, electric vehicles have gained popularity in several countries even though their market share is still relatively low. However, most gains have been made in the area of passenger vehicles and most technical and scientific studies have been devoted to this case. By contrast, the potential of electric vehicular technology for goods distribution has received less attention. The issues related to the use of electric vehicles for goods distribution reveal a wide range of relevant research problems. The aims of this survey paper are to provide transportation researchers an overview of the technological and marketing background needed to conduct research in this area, to present a survey of the existing research in this field, and to offer perspectives for future research.

Charging Strategies to Minimize Greenhouse Gas Emissions of Electrified Delivery Vehicles.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a model that accounts for the spatial and temporal differences in charging emissions using marginal emission factors and degradation-induced differences in production emissions using a semi-empirical degradation model.

Arc Routing with Electric Vehicles: Dynamic Charging and Speed-Dependent Energy Consumption
TL;DR: In this paper , a generic way of dealing with these aspects is introduced through the concept of an energy-indexed graph, which is used to derive an integer linear programming formulation and a solution framework based on branch and cut.

An exact algorithm for the multi-trip container drayage problem with truck platooning
Ji-Won You,Yuan Wang,Zhaojie Xue +2 more
TL;DR: In this article , a Branch and Price-and-Cut (BPC) algorithm was proposed to solve the multi-trip container drayage problem with truck platooning (MT-CDP-TP), where multiple-trip, platooning, and fuel cost reduction are simultaneously considered in a CDP.

An exact algorithm for the home health care routing and scheduling with electric vehicles and synergistic-transport mode
TL;DR: A tailored branch- and-price-and-cut algorithm based on a set-partitioning model is developed, incorporating a specified bounded bidirectional labelling algorithm to solve the challenging pricing subproblems which involve the collaboration of two transport modes to find the synthetic-routes with negative reduced cost.

Review of Battery Charger Topologies, Charging Power Levels, and Infrastructure for Plug-In Electric and Hybrid Vehicles
Murat Yilmaz,Philip T. Krein +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the current status and implementation of battery chargers, charging power levels, and infrastructure for plug-in electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles and classify them into off-board and on-board types with unidirectional or bidirectional power flow.
Electrical energy storage for transportation—approaching the limits of, and going beyond, lithium-ion batteries
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that 2 and 5 times higher energy densities are required to meet the performance goals of a future generation of plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles (PHEVs) with a 40-80 mile all-electric range, and all-EVs with a 300-400 mile range, respectively.
