TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyze the use of rubrics for assessment in higher education from a theoretical point of view and demonstrate the suitability of these for competencies-based performance assessment.
Abstract: From a theoretical point of view, this paper analyses the use of rubrics for assessment in higher education. Rubrics have great education potential in this area, although they are rarely used. The advantages resulting from their application clarify the relationship between learning, teaching and assessment. Several studies confirm their suitability for competencies-based performance assessment. The descriptive and systematic nature of a rubric contributes to gather observations that help to assess skills as well as to foster their development. However, rubrics go beyond the mere assessment, they exemplify the commitment of a professional group to teaching and learning.
TL;DR: Menendez Varela et al. as mentioned in this paper describe the concept of teaching innovation groups: communities of practice in which teachers and students play a greater role in the improvement of education at their institution, exemplified by the collective design of a rubric to assess the quality of course syllabuses.
Quality assurance systems are still in their infancy and their development with only be sustainable with the full participation of the educational community. When teachers and students play an important role in the development and use of resources (such as rubrics) to assess aspects of the syllabus, this promotes processes of empowerment that increase their commitment and sense of responsibility and foster a more professional culture that is in accordance with the new educational paradigm. This article describes the concept of teaching innovation groups: communities of practice in which teachers and students play a greater role in the improvement of education at their institution. The approach is exemplified by the collective design of a rubric to assess the quality of course syllabuses
TL;DR: In this paper, a transdisciplinarity in education with the use of teaching guides is proposed to reduce the distinction among subjects and give rise to a meaningful learning increment, which will provide a better education to students who will be able to live and develop all their creative potential in their society.
EnglishArt education suffers a strong devaluation that is noticeable in numerous legal changes which lead it to a secondary and irrelevant place if a status of the issue is made, it will allow to collect many examples that have taken the relationship between art and science as a basis for human being development throughout the history. It proves a strong relationship with the rest of the subjects that now are considered as the main ones. The aim of this research is to understand the consequences of this devaluation and to propose a greater transdisciplinarity in education with the use of teaching guides. To reduce the distinction among subjects it would give rise to a meaningful learning increment. It provides a better education to students who will be able to live and develop all their creative potential in their society
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a model of teaching plans the implementation of which would correct mistakes and faults in the form and content of the current ones, and analyze an issue that concerns us and affects the basic training that these degrees must offer, that is, unequal distribution of the subjects to the detriment of Contemporary Art.
EnglishThe implementation of the new study plans, less than one decade ago, made teaching plans the main document for communication among professors and students. In this text we reflect about its importance, usefulness and adjustment focusing on the teaching plans elaborated by the public andalusian universities in the degrees related to History of Art. In addition, we analyse an issue that concerns us and affects the basic training that these degrees must offer, that is, the unequal distribution of the subjects to the detriment of Contemporary Art. Finally, we propose a model of teaching plans the implementation of which would correct mistakes and faults in the form and content of the current ones.
TL;DR: The educational guides of art education have been designed, and are annually renewed, with the ultimate goal of helping students attain the specific competencies of the field as mentioned in this paper, and are essential when planning processes of teaching and learning because they make explicit the elements of these processes (objectives, competences, contents, methodologies and evaluation).
EnglishThe educational guides are essential when planning processes of teaching and learning because they make explicit the elements of these processes (objectives, competences, contents, methodologies and evaluation), and serve as a document for the consensus among educational agents. The educational guides of Art Education have been designed, and are annually renewed, with the ultimate goal of helping students attain the specific competencies of the field. The incipient research presented here attempts to study the student's opinion (Preschool and Primary Education grades of the Faculty of Education and Sports of the University of the Basque Country) towards the educational guides of the field. First results show same usefulness of the guides for the students, in which they perceive clear information; coherence between theorical approach and methodological development; and functionality
