Abstract: Ti and Ti alloys have a series of outstanding properties,such as small densities,high specific strengths and rigidities,excel- lent corrosion-resisting and antifatigue properties,good high-temperature behaviors and wedding performances and so on,and have been extensively applied to military(aerospace,et al)and civil(automobile,et al)industries,end can be rated as one of the light metal construction materials with the best development prospect.This paper comprehensively and systematically introduces the classification, chemical composition,main characteristics and processing properties,current situations and development trends of production and con- sumption as well as application areas of Ti alloys,in addition,thoroughly analyzes the potential application of Ti alloys to the automo- biles.Ti and Ti alloys will be more extensively applied to the military and civil industries along with the progress of production technology and the reduce of production cost.
