Abstract: Reaction of oxobis(2, 4-pentanedionato-O, O')titanium (TiO(acac)2) or titanium isopropoxide (TIP) in various organic media was examined and found to afford microcrysta lline anatase. The product having the smallest crystallite size and the largest sur face area was obtained by the reaction of TiO(acac)2 in toluene at 250 °C. The product preserved relative ly high surface area even after calcination at 550 °C in an air flow.

Abstract: Reaction of zinc acetate with aluminum isopropoxide (or galli u m acetylacetonate) in 1, 4-butanediol at 300°C under the spontaneous vapor pressure of the glycol (glycothermal reaction )yielded single-phase zinc aluminate, ZnAl2O4, (or zinc gallate, ZnGa2O4), having a spine!structure. The product had a high surface area, 290 m2/g, and the TEM observation sh o wed the product was comprised of agglomerates of fine particles (diameter, ca.5 nm). T husobtained zinc aluminate maintained its large surface area at relatively high temperatures (up to 700°C), and therefore, it has potential use for catalyst materials.

TL;DR: In this article, the possibility of catalytic reduction of CO2 by lower alkane leading to the formation of more valuable products from lower alkane was explored by using a pulse reaction technique.
Abstract: In order to explore the possibility of catalytic reduction of CO2 by lower alkane leading to the formation of more valuable products from lower alkane, the following reaction was examined by using a pulse reaction technique:CO2 + C3H8 → CO + C3H6 + H20.As a result of catalyst screening, Cr2O3, ZnO, and Ga2O3 were selected as candidates of catalyst. On Cr2O3 and ZnO, the decomposition of C3H8 was significant and the formation of C3H6 from C3H5 was retarded by CO2. On Ga2O3, CO and C3H6 were produced without the formation of by-products, demonstrating the possibility of catalytic reduction of CO2 through the above-mentioned reaction.

TL;DR: In this paper, the transformation of tetrabutylphosphonium bromide, which worked as a phase transfer catalyst in chloride-fluoride exchange reaction of 1, 2-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylbenzene using potassium fluoride, was investigated by 13C- and 31P-NMR.
Abstract: Transformation of tetrabutylphosphonium bromide, whic h worked as a phase transfer catalyst in chloride-fluoride exchange reaction of 1, 2-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylbenzene using potassium fluoride, was investigated by 13C- and 31P-NMR. The phosphonium salt exclusively changed into tributylphosphine oxide in the halide exchange reaction. About 10% of the catalyst turned into the phosphine oxide through dehydration at 150°C for 3 h and halide exchange reaction at 185 °C for 16 h. After the reaction was repeated five times, approximately 50% of the phosphonium salt remained. The residual amount of the phosphonium salt had good correlation with repeated number of the reaction.

Abstract: The single crystals of Cr3Si and Cr5Si3 were prepared by the high temperature copper solution method using metal chromium and silicon powders as starting materials in an argon atmosphere. The conditions for obtaining these crystals with one-phase materials and a relatively large size were determined. As grown Cr3Si and Cr5Si3 single crystals were used for chemical analysis, and measurements of unit cell dimensions, Vickers microhardness and electrical resistivity.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the phase decomposition of trichloroethylene (TCE) over nonstoichiometric hydroxyapatite (DAp) at 100-500 °C.
Abstract: Catalytic vapor phase decomposition of trichloroethylene (TCE) over nonstoichiometric hydroxyapatite (DAp) was investigated at 100-500 °C.TCE vapor (30-200 ppm) decomposed mainly to CO2 and CO by passing through a DAp catalyst bed in a tubelar reactor at 400, -500 °C. The conversion exceeded 90%. The formation of gaseous HC1 was very little. By-products were not detected except for 1, 1-dichloroethylene b y GC-FID.It was assumed that TCE reacted with water vapor and O2 over DAp catalyst to form CO2, CO and HC1, and then HC1 was absorbed as Cl- ions by DAp.
