Abstract: Este artigo expoe um resumo da doutrina tomista relativa as emocoes, analisando como elas se encaixam no ciclo da vida consciente, sua genese no apetite sensitivo, sua classificacao, seu encadeamento e a primazia do amor nesse dinamismo. E tece consideracoes sobre o proveito que tais ensinamentos podem aportar ao estudo da relacao das emocoes com a consciencia, a compreensao de seu desenvolvimento, de sua influencia sobre o comportamento, e ao desenvolvimento de estrategias de autocontrole da atividade emocional. /// This article presents a resume of Thomist doctrine relative to the emotions, analyzing how they fit into the cycle of conscious life, their genesis in the sensual appetite, their classification, their correlation and the primacy of love in this dynamism. It builds considerations upon the benefit that such teachings can offer to the study of the relationship of the emotions with the conscience, to the understanding of their development, of their influence over behavior, and to the development of strategies of self-control of emotional activity.

Abstract: Este artigo apresenta contribuicoes da psicologia tomista ao estudo da atencao, entendida como fruto da interacao das potencias do homem, sobretudo da inteligencia e da vontade. Tem como meta colaborar com o debate e aprofundamento do tema, em vista das controversias e/ou lacunas que o mesmo suscita. E conclui apresentando estrategias praticas para o aperfeicoamento do governo dessa importante faculdade humana. /// This article presents contributions of Thomistic Physchology to the study of attention, understood as a fruit of the interaction of the powers of man, especially the intelligence and the will. Its goal is to contribute to the debate and development of this theme, in view of the controversies and/or lacunas which it arouses. It concludes by presenting practical strategies for perfecting the governance of this important human faculty.

Abstract: A contemplacao das belezas existentes no Universo serve ao homem como um caminho privilegiado para alcancar o Absoluto. Partindo da observacao dessas belezas criadas, ele e convidado a subir de grau em grau ate chegar ao Sumo Grau, a Beleza existente por si mesma. O presente artigo tem como objetivo indicar a importância dessa consideracao metafisica vertical, na qual o homem inicia sua consideracao filosofica no mundo que o circunda para transcende-lo e alcancar a Beleza em essencia, fonte de todas as belezas existentes na criacao. /// The contemplation of the beauty existing in the universe serves man as a privileged path for reaching the Absolute. Starting from the observation of these created beauty, man is invited to rise by degrees to the Supreme Degree, to Beauty existing in and of itself. This article has as its objective to show the importance of this vertical metaphysical consideration, by which man begins his philosophical reflection on the world that surrounds him, so as to transcend it and to arrive at Beauty in essence, source of every beauty existing in creation.
