Abstract: In order to study the development of cracks on cement-stabilized macadam base during highway construction, according to the actual loading data and the mechanical parameters of cement stabilized macadam material with different cement dosage measured by the vibration method, the bottom tensile stress of different sub-base structures was calculated by Bisar 3.0 and the shrinkage crack width of the base was analyzed by a shrinkage cracking model based on the friction restraint of elastic foundation. The results show that the seven-day split strength of cement stabilized macadam is larger than the suggested value given by the current code for design of highway asphalt pavement. On the condition of the same cement dosage, the crack width of the base with graded gravel sub-base is smaller than that of the base with lime-flyash soil sub-base,but the maximum bottom tensile stress is much higher than that of lime-fly ash soil sub-base.When graded gravel is used for sub-base,the weight of construction vehicle is suggested to be less than 35 tons and the cement dosage of the base should be more than 3.0%.With the increase of cement dosage, the shrinkage strain of cement stabilized macadam and shrinkage coefficient decrease first and then increase, and the crack width of the base enlarges first and then lessens. When the cement dosage is 3.5%,the shrinkage strain and shrinkage coefficient is minimized, and the crack width is maximized.

TL;DR: In this article, an acquisition system of buildings' energy consumption data was established by using data collection, communication, and other related techniques and equipment, and separate real-time data of energy consumption in these buildings were received.
Abstract: The electric power consumption of large-scale public buildings, which are the main objects in the supervision and transformation of building energy conservation, accounts for more than 30% of the total energy consumption of all the social architectures. However,at present the real-time separate energy consumption data of most public buildings has not been mastered. An acquisition system of buildings' energy consumption data was established by using data collection, communication and other related techniques and equipment. With this system, the separate monitoring of energy consumption was carried out in 40 target constructions and separate real-time data of energy consumption in these buildings were received.Factors which affect the energy consumption were identified by analyzing statistically the structure and using information of the buildings and the actual energy consumption data.Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze building energy consumption and influencing factors and 40 major factors which affect building energy consumption were obtained and the corresponding prediction model of energy consumption was developed.Compared with the observed data, the model can accurately forecast the energy consumption of the buildings which have the same functions. This model can provide reference data for the energy quota, price raising for above-quota of energy using and for energy saving for public constructions in the future.

Abstract: In order to study the mechanical properties of steel bone T-shaped concrete-filled steel tubular long columns under axial compression,an experimental analysis on 16 specimens with the slenderness ratio of 16λ43 under axial compression was carried out.The failure modes and work mechanism were studied, and curves of load-longitudinal displacement,load-strain and load-deflection of the specimen were obtained.By analyzing the effects of hoop index, bone index, slenderness ratio and other parameters on the mechanical property of the specimens under axial compression and comparing the experimental value of the specimen's ultimate bearing capacity with the theoretical value, the computational method of stability coefficient of the steel bone T-shaped concrete-filled steel tubular long columns under axial compression is proposed. The research results show that T-shaped concrete-filled steel tubular columns embedded with the "H" shaped steel bones have good ductility;steel tube, concrete and steel bone can work collaboratively, which improves the brittle failure properties of the core concrete and the bearing capacity of the composite column. The formula could be valuable for engineering design.

Abstract: In order to study the debonding of concrete filled steel tubes(CFST),pulling and bending methods were used to test the interfacial bond strength.Based on the test results, the debonding due to temperature change and shrinkage of core concrete in CFST was analyzed. The test and analysis results show that the bending method is a better way for bond strength test;that the concrete strength has little influence on bond strength while the surface condition of the steel has much influence on it,and the bond strength of the steel which is rust is greater than that of the steel with smooth surface.According to the bending test results,an interfacial bond strength of 0.86 MPa was obtained.Debonding will easily happen in CFST when temperature changes or core concrete shrinks. The bond strength test was firstly carried out,and the test methods and results can provide a reference for the research on the debonding of CFST arch, which will play a catalytic role in CFST arch bridge engineering applications.

Abstract: In order to study the influence of different loading process of self-weight on stress and displacement of the arch dam,the Xiluodu dam was taken as the research object.Seven different loading processes of self-weight of the dam were simulated to analyze the influence on the working state of the arch dam.The results of finite element analysis showed that the different loading process had a significant effect on the stress field and displacement field of the arch dam because of the arc shape of blocks and the accumulation of self-weight.With the increase of applied self-weight,the simulation results were getting more reasonable. The effect of the number of horizontal hierarchical level played a more important role than that of the vertical counterpart.Especially, the changes of principal tensile stress of the dam and displacement along cross-bed direction appeared more sensitive. The analysis results have some reference value for design and construction of arch dam.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of acid and alkali solutions on water and heavy metal contents of tail ore was evaluated using the method of dynamic leaching of soil column with tail ore collected from Tongnai tailing dam in Fuxin,Liaoning of China.
Abstract: In order to evaluate the effect of acid and alkali solutions on water and heavy metal contents of tail ore, experiments using the method of dynamic leaching of soil column with tail ore collected from Tongnai tailing dam in Fuxin,Liaoning of China, were performed. It was found that water content increased after leaching but metals of Cu,Cr,Mn,Cd and Ni respoused differently to the pH of the leaching solution in the range of pH 4 to pH 10.The contents of Cu and Cr decrease as the pH of the leaching solution increase from pH 4 to about pH 7,but increase when the solution pH is greater than 7;the contents of Mn and Ni increase as the solution pH increase but decrease slightly when the pH is greater than 8.5 and 8,respectively;Fe content decreases steadily as the solution pH increases, while the Cd content increases as the solution pH increases from 4 to 6.5,then decrease sharply when solution pH exceed this point.Since the leaching solution is acidic or alkalic,it is more meaningful than the pure water in describing the actual environment of tailings.

Abstract: A series of Bi2O3 photocatalysts doped with different amounts of titanium were prepared by the active carbon-assisted-sol method and then calcined at different temperatures. The prepared pure Bi2O3 and Ti-doped Bi2O3 samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),nitrogen adsorption, scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(UV-Vis DRS).The characterization results revealed that all of the Ti-doped Bi2O3 samples exhibited stronger absorbance in ultraviolet light range than pure Bi2O3.The photocatalytic activity of the samples were evaluated by the photodegradation of methyl orange under UV light(λmax=365 nm) irradiation. The influences of Ti doping contents and calcination temperatures were also analyzed. The results show that at the optimal calcination temperature of 300 °C and 3%(molar ratio) of titanium doping the composite photocatalyst has much higher photocatalytic activity compared with pure Bi2O3.When the concentration of catalyst loading is 2 g/L,the degradation rate of methyl orange(20 mg/L) reached 96.4% under ultraviolet irradiation for 120 min.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the cause of the crack in the foundation ring walls of 12 newly built huge alcohol fermentation tanks and found that the internal sand is not dense and when the water was injected into the steel tank, the tank was warped.
Abstract: Industrial tanks are widely used in various petrochemical industries.Located in an industrial area in Nanning,Guangxi, the foundation ring walls of twelve newly built huge alcohol fermentation tanks were cracked massively when a trial operation began. There were many vertical cracks, together with a large angle warping between the steel tank and the ring wall, which had a negative impact on the production of the factory. In order to explore the cause of such accidents, the performance indicators, such as concrete strength, state of cracks, steel condition and its cover thickness, tank verticality, concrete surface defects and so on,were tested on site. The No.1 fermentation tank was analyzed as a typical example.Computer simulation and traditional theoretical approaches were applied to calculate the bearing capacity of different cases. It is concluded that the ring walls above the ground elevation faced lateral pressure induced by the internal sand may lead to the crack.Or it is most likely that the internal sand is not dense and when the water was injected into the steel tank, the tank was warped. This may result in the bottom steel slab to become deformed and to push the sand, leading to too much larger tensile stress in the ring walls to crack.

Abstract: In order to obtain the blended braking characteristics of super-big electric wheels of mining dump truck on different downhill slope, and analyze the power distribution between grid resistance electric dynamic brake and hydraulic wet multi-disc brake, the dynamic model of blended braking system was established by using a certain type of 520 tons gross vehicle weight dump truck as research object. Results show that with the initial velocity of 30 km/h,emergency braking distance is less than 21 m on different slopes below 10%;the average specific brake force nearly remain unchanged on different slope, and the maximum value is about 0.35;for rear specific brake force is bigger than that of front, the possibility of sideslip and deviation is bigger than that of out of steering control;the specific brake force difference between rear and front can be reduced by moving the center of gravity to the rear axle, while the average specific brake force remain unchanged,so the ground adhesion can used effectively;the brake power ratio between grid resistance and wet multi-disc brake is about 2∶ 3.These results shows that the blended braking system can reduce the brakes load effectively, increase braking performance, and extend the service life of the main brakes.

Abstract: In order to determine the occurrence of groundwater around the mine and solve the problem of mine water inrush,Niaoshan coal mine air shaft is used as an example to survey the groundwater around the shaft by applying the induced polarization method.By combining engineering geological data, the survey results are interpreted to obtain the depth and thickness of the aquifer and water inflow.Compared with the actual results, the induced polarization method is quite reliable in the mine groundwater exploration because it is not affected by pure undulating terrain and surrounding rock resistivity heterogeneity.By using the exploration results to guide shaft construction,it not only provides security for mine construction, but also accelerates well completion. The induced polarization method can also be used to check the effect of the shaft where the grouting is completed and assess the quality of the grouting. Therefore this method has the potential of application in broader area.

TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis method of amplitude of galloping of iced bundled conductors is proposed from the relation between work and energy, and the expression of amplitude increment explains the action of linear item and nonlinear item in aerodynamic forces on the conductors during dissimilarity phases.
Abstract: Aiming at short circuit aroused by galloping of iced bundled conductors,an analysis method of amplitude of galloping of iced bundled conductors is proposed from the relation between work and energy. The expression of amplitude increment of galloping of iced bundled conductors through a cycle is educed under the sine mode hypothesis. The expression of amplitude increment explains the action of linear item and nonlinear item in aerodynamic forces on iced bundled conductors during dissimilarity phases. The conclusion is that the work of nonlinear item in aerodynamic forces is smaller and the amplitude of galloping of iced bundled conductors increases more slowly, when the amplitude of galloping of iced bundled conductors is smaller;the work of nonlinear item in aerodynamic forces is prime part of the work aerodynamic forces and the amplitude of galloping of iced bundled conductors increases faster, when the amplitude of galloping of iced bundled conductors is larger. Therefore, the nonlinear item in aerodynamic forces must be considered in analysis of short circuit aroused by galloping of iced bundled conductors.

TL;DR: In this paper, a numerical quasi-static model was established with ANSYS software for a three-storey reinforced concrete frame structure, where the results for traditional joints specified in the design code and for the joints retrofitted with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) were compared.
Abstract: In order to study the strong column and weak beam effect of the column ends reinforced with carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP),a numerical quasi-static model was established with ANSYS software for a three-storey reinforced concrete frame structure. The results for traditional joints specified in the design code and for the joints retrofitted with CFRP were compared. It was found that the stress in the reinforce bars for slab close to the beam increases significantly with the applied top displacement of the structure in horizontal direction, but increases slightly for slab far from the beam. For the joints retrofitted with CFRP,the yielding of column reinforce bars will be delayed, while the number of cracks on beams increases, which tend to exhibit a failure type closer to the beam-pivot or ductile mode.

TL;DR: The nonlinear ensemble model proposed in this paper can reflect the runoff time series trend well, and have good forecasting stability and accuracy, and can be used as an alternative forecasting tool for rain-runoff.
Abstract: In order to obtain more accurate forecasting results of runoff, using the dmey wavelet transform, the runoff time sequence is decomposed into high frequency part and low frequency part, then using the back propagation neural network based on the genetic algorithm(GANN),both of the two subparts are predicted respectively, finally, using the inverse dmey wavelet transform, both of the two predicted results are reconstructed to form the future behavior of the runoff series. The method has been compared with three individual forecasting models, such as GANN,back propagation neural network(BPNN) and simple moving average(SMA).It is demonstrated that the presented method is superior to the other models presented in this research in terms of the same evaluation measurements. Therefore the nonlinear ensemble model proposed in this paper can reflect the runoff time series trend well, and have good forecasting stability and accuracy, and can be used as an alternative forecasting tool for rain-runoff.

TL;DR: In this paper, a finite element analysis model was established in ANSYS to study the strengthening of in-service bridges, and it was concluded that the SRAP is the best choice to improve the bearing capacity of reinforced concrete and the stiffness and strength performance of the slab beams.
Abstract: In order to study the strengthening of in-service bridges,an finite element analysis model was established in ANSYS.SRAP(A kind of high strength steel wire and alumina chitosan resin mortar),carbon fiber reinforced polymer and bonding steel plates were used to separately strengthen the hollow slab beams of a bridge, and reinforcement requirements are met in all three cases.Through the finite element analysis,it can be concluded that the SRAP is the best choice to improve the bearing capacity of reinforced concrete and the stiffness and strength performance of the slab beams.SRAP technology provides an important reference and basis for practical engineering.
