Abstract: The model described here provides an accounting of movement and also yields a method of estimating geographical maps of a relocation process along with the corresponding table of estimated net movements solely from a knowledge of the total amount of change at specific places. The use of the model for studying and forecasting internal migration patterns is discussed. Maps are constructed to illustrate observed net migration for the United States between 1965 and 1970 as well as estimated trajectories of population flow and estimated net interstate population movement for the periods 1965-1970 and 1970-1976 (EXCERPT)
