Abstract: PROCESS FOR THE OXYDEHYDROGENATION OF ETHANE TO ETHYLENE BY USING EXCESS QUANTITIES OF HYDROGEN HALIDE. A PREFERRED CATALYST INCLUDES A LOW CONCENTRATION OF COPPER OR IRON HALIDE WITH RARE EARTH HALIDE, THE RATIO OF RARE EARTH HALIDE TO COPPER OR IRON HALIDEBEING GREATER THAN 1:1. OTHER PREFERRED CATALYST COMPONENTS INCLUDE ALKALI METAL HALIDE AND MANGANESE HALIDE.

Abstract: A flame retardant polyurethane-modified polyisocyanurate foam composition containing a flame retardant amount of a normally liquid flame retardant polyol ester. The polyol ester is prepared by a process comprising reacting a halogen containing anhydride of a dicarboxylic acid or a mixture of said anhydrides with 2 to about 10 moles of an aliphatic diol or mixture of diols per mole of said anhydride to obtain a substantially fully esterified halogen containing product.

Abstract: Phenols having an unsubstituted ortho position are transalkylated in the ortho position by mixing them with an ortho-alpha-branched alkylphenol (e.g., 2,6-di-sec-butylphenol) and an aluminum phenoxide catalyst and heating the mixture to 100°-350°C., preferably in a closed system and in the presence of olefin corresponding in structure to the ortho-alpha-branched alkyl group.This application is continuation-in-part of application Ser. No. 20,115, filed Mar. 16, 1970.
