TL;DR: Both ground-wave and sky-wave HF propagation are discussed, and the equation describing the performance of a radio link when interference or jamming is present is derived.
Abstract: : This Paper discusses both ground-wave and sky-wave HF propagation, and derives the equation describing the performance of a radio link when interference or jamming is present. Various techniques are then discussed to improve the link performance under these conditions. The most promising are shown to be directional antennas and spread-spectrum modulation, and these are discussed in great detail.
