The Fe32Ni32Si16B18Nb2, Fe31Ni31Si18B18Nb2 and Fe30Ni30Si20B18Nb2, (at. %) alloys are synthesized using low purity of raw materials by high power CO2 laser cladding with synchronous powder feeding. X-ray diffraction results show that the coating has an amorphous structure with some crystalline phases on it. The microstructure of the coatings changes with different amounts of Si. It can be observed that black nanocrystalline grains embedded in the amorphous phase in the TEM image. The coating of Fe31Ni31Si18B18Nb2 alloy was annealed at different temperature for 30 minutes and the microstructure were investigated. The highest Vickers Hardness had exceeded 1300 in the coatings. The amount of Si is a critical factor for fabricating a Fe-Ni based amorphous composite coating.

Amorphization of Fe-Ni Based Alloys by Laser Cladding and Remelting

The influence of different coatings on the weldability of Al/steel was assessed in this study. Different kinds of the coatings, which included pure zinc coating, Fe-Zn coating and without coating, were considered. The thickness of the coating was also studied. Different configuration of overlap and butt joint was used, and different welding methods including cold metal transfer (CMT) welding-brazing and laser welding-brazing with filler metal were investigated. Samples were fabricated and the weld appearance, microstructure and composition analyses of the joints were examined. It was found that the Al to steel without coating could not be welded due to the formation of large amount of brittle Fe-Al intermetallic compounds (IMC). The coating helped suppress the formation of IMC and a welding-brazing joint was produced. However, pure Zn coating enhanced the wetting of molten filler onto the solid steel substrate, but Fe-Zn coating barely enhanced the molten filler to wet the steel substrate. The coating with a thickness of 10-20 μm contributed to a better performance of Al/steel joint.

Effect of different coatings on the weldability of Al to steel

The invention discloses a welding wire conveying mechanism for a narrow clearance. The mechanism comprises a wire outlet nozzle, a rigidity-strengthened pipe sleeve, a wire outlet nozzle installing pipe, a rigidity-strengthened pipe sleeve fastening part, a wire outlet nozzle fastening part, an adapter pipe and a wire feeding gun pipe; the rigidity-strengthened pipe sleeve is connected with and tightly wraps the wire outlet nozzle, the rigidity-strengthened pipe sleeve and the wire outlet nozzle are inserted into the wire outlet nozzle installing pipe, the rigidity-strengthened pipe sleeve fastening part is used for fixing the rigidity-strengthened pipe sleeve in the wire outlet nozzle installing pipe, and the wire outlet nozzle fastening part is used for fixing the wire outlet nozzle in the wire outlet nozzle installing pipe; the adapter pipe is connected with the wire outlet nozzle installing pipe, and the wire feeding gun pipe is connected with the adapter pipe and an external wire feeder. According to the welding wire conveying mechanism for the narrow clearance, the mechanism can go deep into the clearance of a narrow-clearance welding plate, and then a welding wire can be accurately fed to the welding portion.
