Size-dependent vibration of nickel cantilever microbeams: Experiment and gradient elasticity
TL;DR: In this paper, the size-dependent elasticity of a series of nickel cantilever microbeams was investigated experimentally for the first time, and the experimental results revealed that the dimensionless natural frequencies of the cantilevers increase to about 2.1 times with the beam thickness decreasing from 15-2.1 μm.
A standard experimental method for determining the material length scale based on modified couple stress theory
TL;DR: In this article, a standard experimental method for determining the intrinsic material length scale of modified couple stress theory is proposed based on a non-contact laser Doppler vibration measurement system, where the first-order resonant frequencies of two different cantilever microbeams made of copper and titanium with thickness ranging from 15 to 2

Torsional vibration of carbon nanotube with axial velocity and velocity gradient effect
TL;DR: In this article, a nonlocal strain gradient theory developed from nonlocal theory was proposed for carbon nanotube in which axial velocity and the velocity gradient effect were separately considered on the basis of newly proposed nonlocal gradient theory.

Postbuckling analysis of bi-directional functionally graded imperfect beams based on a novel third-order shear deformation theory
TL;DR: In this paper, the postbuckling response of bi-directional functionally graded (FG) beams with porosities is investigated and the transverse shear deformation is taken into account based on a novel third-order shear deformability theory in which the kinematic of displacements is derived from an elastic formulation.

Experimental investigation on size-dependent higher-mode vibration of cantilever microbeams
TL;DR: In this paper, the size-dependent vibration of cantilever microbeams made of nickel is studied for the first three transverse modes and it is confirmed that modified couple stress theory is valid for vibration of higher modes too.
