Metal organic frameworks for electrochemical sensor applications: A review.

Facile and stable nanocomposites, carbon nanocages (CNCs)-reduced graphene oxide (RGO), were developed via one-pot in situ solvothermal reaction in this study. Transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, atomic focus microscope, N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms, thermogravimetric analysis and Fourier-transform infrared were performed to characterize the CNCs-RGO hybrid material. The electrochemical detections of catechol (CC) and hydroquinone (HQ) were investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The excellent electrocatalytic activity and reversibility have been shown on the modified electrode toward oxidation of both CC and HQ in 0.04 M acetate buffer solution (pH = 4.0). The relationship between the oxidation peak current of CC and its concentration was linear over the range from 1 to 400 μM in the presence of 100 μM HQ, and the linear relationship between the oxidation peak current of HQ and its concentration can be obtained range from 1 to 300 μM in the presence of 100 μM CC. The detection limits (S/N = 3) for CC and HQ were 0.40 and 0.87 μM, respectively.

One-pot hydrothermal synthesis carbon nanocages-reduced graphene oxide composites for simultaneous electrochemical detection of catechol and hydroquinone

In this work, graphene and titanium dioxide nanoparticles nanocomposite modified glass carbon electrode (GR–TiO 2 /GCE) was developed to serve as a sensor for simultaneous determination of catechol (CC) and hydroquinone (HQ). The GR–TiO 2 nanocomposite was characterized by using scanning electron microscopy and electrochemical impedance microscopy. The application of GR–TiO 2 nanocomposite in simultaneous determination of CC and HQ was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. The GR–TiO 2 nanocomposites modified electrode displays excellent electrochemical catalytic activities toward CC and HQ, which could be attributed to high electrical conductivity and larger surface area of GR–TiO 2 nanocomposites. The oxidation peak currents of CC and HQ were linear over the range of 0.5–100 μM with the detection limits of 0.087 μM for CC and 0.082 μM for HQ, respectively. In addition, the modified sensor shows excellent anti-interference from resorcinol, phenol and nitrobenzol due to their different oxidation peak potentials. The proposed sensor was successfully applied in the simultaneous determination of CC and HQ in tap and lake water samples with satisfied results.

Simultaneous electrochemical determination of catechol and hydroquinone based on graphene–TiO2 nanocomposite modified glassy carbon electrode

The metal–organic framework (MOF) of Cu3(btc)2 (btc = benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid) is covalently immobilized at chitosan (CS)–electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ERGO) hybrid film modified electrode, which is characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectra (EDS), and electrochemistry. The MOF-based electrode is applied as an electrochemical sensing platform for the simultaneous detection of dihydroxybenzene isomers (DBIs) of catechol (CT), resorcinol (RS), and hydroquinone (HQ). The results show that the DBIs present well-resolved and intense voltammetric signals at the modified electrode, due to the synergic effect contributing from Cu3(btc)2 with unique porous framework structure and ERGO with high electronic conductivity. Covalent Immobilization of Cu3(btc)2 at Chitosan-Electroreduced Graphene Oxide Hybrid Film and Its Application for Simultaneous Detection of Dihydroxybenzene Isomers

A gold nanoparticles decorated the seedling of white myoga ginger-derived biochar (WBC/Au) was prepared and characterized. The WBC/Au nanocomposites exhibited highly porous structure, good dispersibility in water, and high specific surface area. Further, the nanocomposite prepared at 850 °C (WBC/Au-850) was used as the electrode materials for simultaneous determination of hydroquinone and catechol. Under the optimized conditions, the WBC/Au-850-15 nanocomposite modified electrode exhibited very high sensitivities and very low detection limits for simultaneous determination of hydroquinone and catechol. Moreover, this sensor was further used to detect hydroquinone and catechol in tap water sample with satisfactory results.

In this paper, a novel graphene-graphene oxide (GR-GO) nanocomposite which could be dispersed well in water was fabricated by mixing GR and GO together with the help of ultrasonication. The significant advantage of the method developed here is the omission of any stabilizing compound or organic solvent. The prepared material was characterized by the scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and electrochemical impedance spectra. The application of GR-GO nanocomposite in simultaneous determination of hydroquinone (HQ) and catechol (CC) was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. The oxidation peak potential difference between HQ and catechol CC was about 102 mV, which was wide enough to clearly discriminate the dihydroxybenzene isomers. In the presence of 50 μM isomer, the oxidation peak currents of HQ and CC were linear over the range of 0.5–300 μM with the detection limits of 0.16 μM (S/N = 3) for HQ and 0.2 μM (S/N = 3) for CC, respectively.
