The membrane-anchor of Paramecium temperature-specific surface antigens is a glycosylinositol phospholipid.
TL;DR: It is proposed that the Paramecium temperature-specific surface antigens are anchored in the plasma membrane via a glycophospholipid, and that an endogenous phospholipase C may be involved in the antigenic variation process.

Allelic modulation in Paramecium aurelia heterozygotes. Study of G serotypes in syngen 1.
TL;DR: This phenomenon of allelic exclusion resembles the well-known phenomenon of mutual exclusion occurring between different loci which govern the surface antigens corresponding to the different serotypes of Paramecium aurelia.

Intergenic and interallelic exclusion inParamecium primaurelia: Immunological comparisons between allelic and non-allelic surface antigens
TL;DR: Comparing the structural particularities displayed by both allelic and non-allelic surface antigen molecules inParamecium primaurelia permits some interpretations concerning the mechanisms of intergenic and interallelic exclusion, on the basis of the structural differences between the different surface antigens.

Surface antigens of Paramecium primaurelia: Membrane-bound and soluble forms
TL;DR: Investigating the structural particularities of different surface antigens of Paramecium shows that in all cases a given surface antigen presents two biochemically distinct basic forms: a soluble form recovered from ethanolic extraction of whole cells, and a membrane-bound form recovering from ciliary membranes solubilized by detergent.

Allelic antigen and membrane-anchor epitopes of Paramecium primaurelia surface antigens
TL;DR: Y8 enables us to demonstrate that the membranes-anchor of Paramecium SAgs contains an additional hidden determinant close to the cross-reacting determinant and to discriminate between the membrane-bound and soluble form of S Ags.
