Reactive Oxygen Species as a Signal in Glucose-Stimulated Insulin Secretion
Jingbo Pi,Yushi Bai,Qiang Zhang,Victoria A. Wong,Lisa M. Floering,Kiefer W. Daniel,Jeffrey M. Reece,Jude T. Deeney,Melvin E. Andersen,Barbara E. Corkey,Sheila Collins +10 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest that H2O2 derived from glucose metabolism is one of the metabolic signals for insulin secretion, whereas oxidative stress may disturb its signaling function.

Persistent Nuclear Factor-κB Activation in Ucp2-/- Mice Leads to Enhanced Nitric Oxide and Inflammatory Cytokine Production
Yushi Bai,Hiroki Onuma,Xu Bai,Alexander Medvedev,Mary A. Misukonis,J. Brice Weinberg,Wenhong Cao,Jacques Robidoux,Lisa M. Floering,Kiefer W. Daniel,Sheila Collins +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that mitochrondrially derived reactive oxygen from Ucp2-/- cells constitutively activates NF-κB, resulting in a “primed” state to both potentiate and amplify the inflammatory response upon subsequent stimulation.

The ubiquitination status of the glucagon receptor determines signal bias
Suneet Kaur,Badr Sokrat,Megan E. Capozzi,Kimberley El,Yushi Bai,David A. D'Alessio,Jonathan E. Campbell,Michel Bouvier,Sudha K. Shenoy +8 more
TL;DR: In this article , a link between the ubiquitination status and signal transduction mechanism of the glucagon receptor (GCGR) was reported, where the GCGR expressed at the plasma membrane is constitutively ubiquitinated and upon agonist activation, internalized GCGRs are deubiquitinated at early endosomes and recycled via Rab4-containing vesicles.

Calcium interactions in amelogenin-derived peptide assembly
TL;DR: In this article , a 14-residue peptide (14P2, residues Gly8 to Thr21) was identified as a key sequence mediating amelogenin assembly formation.
Adipose Tissue Development and Metabolism

- 01 Jan 2006
TL;DR: This chapter will briefly examine development and metabolic functions of adipose tissue and how these processes are regulated.
