High frequency of PTEN mutations in nevi and melanomas from xeroderma pigmentosum patients.
Taro Masaki,Yun Wang,John J. DiGiovanna,Sikandar G. Khan,Mark Raffeld,Senda Beltaifa,Thomas J. Hornyak,Thomas N. Darling,Chyi-Chia Richard Lee,Kenneth H. Kraemer +9 more
TL;DR: The clinical and histological appearances and the molecular pathology of these UV‐related XP nevi and melanomas were different from nevi or melanomas in the general population.
Genetic Diversity in Melanoma Metastases from a Patient with Xeroderma Pigmentosum
Yun Wang,Xiao Hui Tan,John J. DiGiovanna,Chyi-Chia Richard Lee,Jere B. Stern,Mark Raffeld,Elaine S. Jaffe,Kenneth H. Kraemer +7 more
TL;DR: To examine genetic diversity, metastatic melanoma lesions from a patient with xeroderma pigmentosum are studied and the first XP “variant” patient recognized, a form of XP with normal nucleotide excision repair is recognized.
Evidence of ultraviolet type mutations in xeroderma pigmentosum melanomas
Yun Wang,John J. DiGiovanna,John J. DiGiovanna,Jere B. Stern,Thomas J. Hornyak,Mark Raffeld,Sikandar G. Khan,Kyu Seon Oh,M. Christine Hollander,Philip A. Dennis,Kenneth H. Kraemer +10 more
TL;DR: High frequency of amino-acid-altering mutations in the melanomas are found and it is demonstrated that these mutations impaired PTEN function; UV damage plays a direct role in induction of mutations and in inactivation of the PTEN gene in XP melanomas including in situ, the earliest stage of melanoma.
