Ranking differentially expressed genes from Affymetrix gene expression data: methods with reproducibility, sensitivity, and specificity
TL;DR: This analysis of the MicroArray Quality Control (MAQC) project's datasets showed that the FC-based gene ranking methods (WAD, AD, FC, and RP) had a higher level of reproducibility: the percentages of overlapping genes (POGs) across different sites for the FC -based methods were higher overall than those for the t-statistic-based methods (modT, samT, shrinkT, and ibmT).
Naringenin chalcone improves adipocyte functions by enhancing adiponectin production.
TL;DR: Results indicate that naringenin chalcone is a potent tomato flavonoid that improves adipocyte metabolic functions and exerts insulin-sensitizing effects by activating an adiponectin-related pathway.

Single ingestion of soy β-conglycinin induces increased postprandial circulating FGF21 levels exerting beneficial health effects
Tsutomu Hashidume,Asuka Kato,Tomohiro Tanaka,Shoko Miyoshi,Nobuyuki Itoh,Rieko Nakata,Hiroyasu Inoue,Akira Oikawa,Yuji Nakai,Makoto Shimizu,Jun Inoue,Ryuichiro Sato +11 more
TL;DR: Dietary β-conglycinin intake can impact hepatic and systemic metabolism by increasing the postprandial circulating FGF21 levels and Methionine supplementation to the diet or primary hepatocyte culture medium demonstrated its importance for activating liver or hepatocyte ATF4-FGF21 signaling.
DNA microarray analysis of labial salivary glands in IgG4-related disease: comparison with Sjögren's syndrome.
Hiroto Tsuboi,Yuji Nakai,Mana Iizuka,Hiromitsu Asashima,Chihiro Hagiya,Sayaka Tsuzuki,Tomoya Hirota,Haruka Miki,Shinya Hagiwara,Yuya Kondo,Akihiko Tanaka,Masafumi Moriyama,Isao Matsumoto,Seiji Nakamura,Toshio Yoshihara,Keiko Abe,Takayuki Sumida +16 more
TL;DR: To compare gene expression in labial salivary glands from patients with IgG4‐related disease with that in LSGs from Patients with Sjögren's syndrome, a large number of genes from both groups are compared.

High Phosphorus Diet-Induced Changes in NaPi-IIb Phosphate Transporter Expression in the Rat Kidney: DNA Microarray Analysis
TL;DR: Analysis of changes in gene expression in the rat kidney following administration of a high phosphorus (HP) diet suggested that NaPi-IIb is upregulated in the kidney in response to the active excretion of phosphate in HP diet-fed rats.
